Made it back home safe, the hitch work great, Getting out of new Mexico and through the hills/mountain range was though. At some points we could only do 40 mph. We had a gust wind of 15-20 mph. (We check).

My trans temp got as high as 230. My coola temp gauge wen pass 210 only once bit not to the point of pulling over.

I did pull over to let the trans cool off a few times, once we got to San Antonio and flatter grown things got slot better. Over all a fun trip.

I won't be going to the mountains for camping so I will text out the suburban towing the camper under my normal camping routes and hope it does well.

Glad you made it home and had a good trip! I was surprised when I saw that you bought at Holiday RV. They are probably the most expensive dealer around! Perhaps next time we are looking I will call and pretend I'm from out of state

Enjoy your new rig!

Thanks

We got a used unit, and their price was very competitive, there is a dealer with in 30 miles from me that had a similar camper but 2 years older and they wanted just as much plus all the fees.

Over all I'm happy with my purchase and the way they treated us.

The Suburban is not the best vehicle to tow with as you found out. Most have a 355 rear end. I towed a 18EC W & P back from Texas with ours and both engine and Transmission were overheating. Trailer only weighed 6500#. I bought a F-150 3.6 ECCO Boost with no problems and have traded up to a 24 W & P since at about 9000# loaded. No problems .

Ours has 3.73 gear... I know based on the roads we were and add the wind gust that our suburban was in a thoug spot. Since we don't camp on areas with hills like that we should be fine. I would love to upgrade to a more capable tow vehicle but o have no use for a truck. We need the seat and cargo space of a large SUV and my choices are very limited
