Towing a 4WD Jeep Wrangler - Manual Trans.

Getting ready to head out for the first time pulling my Jeep behind. I've read through the Jeep manual and have boiled it down to this:

Towing - 4WD Models:

  • The transfer case must be shifted into N.
  • The manual transmission must be in gear, any gear.
  • Put the key in the ACC position.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and secure it away from the negative battery post.
Am I correct to assume that the ACC position is so that the steering wheel is unlocked and disconnecting the battery is to prevent the Jeep battery from running down, since the key is on?

First thing I thought about was whether the tail lights would work on the Jeep, but I guess they are basically hard wired to the coach through the pig tail?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance....
