Towing a new Cedar Creek Silverback, shortbed friendly?
Does anyone know if the new CC Silverback turning radius is short bed friendly? I am considering a 31IK but see no mention of its short bed compatibility (without using a slider hitch) in any of the documentation. Even the dealer is not sure and says he contacted FR but I have not heard back. I do know they changed the cap design recently.

What are you considering short bed? The 5.5' the 6.5' or the 6.75'?
I have had no issues in the past 20+ years with 6.5' and a 6.75' beds.
I do have a slider but have never used it in all these years.
If I get into a spot where I have to turn that short I'm more concerned about what it doses to the tires and suspension on such a sharp turn. Ever see how the tires and axles turn under when doing so? Not something i want to do. Back up and pull up a time or two will keep you from ever having to jackknife.
I once seen a guy twist an axle right out from under his trailer on a 90º turn on asphalt.

I've never had to use my slider, but I'm glad it's there if and when I need it.

I know for a fact that a 6'-5" bed will require a slider hitch sometime in your future. I have a sight dent to prove this in the C-Pillar of the truck on the driver side.
I even had a manual sliding Reese hitch but I did not extend the hitch to maneuver in a parking lot. I thought I could turn the truck and trailer without it but no I did kiss the cab, no broken rear window though.
After 10 years of use with the Reese manual slider it was scraped last year. I now have a Demco Auto Glide hitch so, I do not have to worry about extending the hitch any more. Will worth the money for this hitch no chucking at all and no worries about extending the hitch if I need to or not.

I do not want to use a slider hitch if I can avoid it. They are heavy to pull in and out. My goal was to use an Anderson hitch.

Then you might just need to get a new truck with a long bed.
By the way...what truck are you planning to haul this with?

My tow vehicle is a 2018 Ram 3500 with 6’4” box. Our Cardinal does not have the new front end so I chose to go with a Demco Auto Slid hitch for me it was the right decision, I can eaidly turn 90+ degrees.
That said, I don’t plan on removing the hitch. Tilting it up for greasing is as far as I go. If you need a slider that you can remove I would recommend PullRite.

Hey Pa...I have a Silverback 29IK and a Short Bed Super Duty. I have a curt Q16 fixed hitch. You'll have no problems at all. They ARE short bed friendly. I have made some sharp turns, but do it slowly, with caution, and watch very carefully. Not problems at all.

2013 GMC 6.6 box. You can’t turn 90 degrees with a 2013 29IK.

We tow a 2019 33IK with a short bed Ram 2500 and the Andersen Ultimate hitch. We have only had the new trailer since October, but have had no problem with clearance on backing. I am not saying that it can't happen, but I back and make tight turns carefully, and have been able to get into any space that I've needed to so far.

I have a 2015 RAM 2500 Short Bed, and I haul a 2017 Cedar Creek 29RE. I had the dealer put a Reese Airborne Sidewinder pin box on my 5th wheel. I also had them put a Reese 20K Drop-in 5th wheel for my truck. It turns 22 inches back from the Pin. I love it, No problem going down the road. I can back it up into the camping site with no problems.

I have a 2008 GMC 2500 6.5 bed. We tow a 2011 silverback 29rl it has the reese goosbox so definitely no slider I have never even been close to making contact. Now I dont think I ever tried to do 90° but I have made every maneuver and put the rig in some tight spots.

X2.
You can turn the pin adapter on an Andersen 180° to provide clearance for shorter beds. As mentioned, check their documentation.

Slider
A slider is one of those things you may never use. However, if you are ever in a situation that you need to use it, you will be darn glad you have it.
