Only way to know for sure is to weigh your truck, subtract that from 9200, then subtract you, passengers, hitch and whatever else. This is the number available for pin weight according to your GVWR.

Yes that is true had a few try to tell me with my 2014 F150 EB SCREW SB I could easily tow an ultra lite 5er when my max tow was 11,200 but pin was 1520, they said most lite 5th wheels are only 1200-1300, after fuel I could drive it and no more weight?

I upgraded to a F350 Crew SB 6.7 Diesel SRW. I am looking at a trailer with a pin of 1920 and I've of 9980 I have Payload of 3500 and Max tow of 15,700 and it is just Future Wife and I plus Fuel and some firewood, so we are well within specs but I could never tow a 5th wheel with the F150 even though the truck could it would be very unsafe.

I looked at a F250 same truck specs but it only had a payload of 2300#'s

I have been towing a campers for a while now and have owned 4 , 2 travel trailers 34 ft and under to 2 5th wheels both which are just under 40 ft. I am no expert but I have learned a few things if you are new to this lifestyle do not believe any salesman who tells you that you can tow any trailer with your truck. If you are buying a new camper it probably represents a pretty big investment on your part. Be smart take your time and do your homework, I personaly would not tow any 5th wheel with any vehicle that is less than a F-250 or 2500. It's not so much if your vehicle can tow it but can you control it and stop it in inclemet wheather or emergency situations. God forbid you have an accident and hurt someone or cause damage if your vehicle is not rated for your size trailer you could be determined at faut and be charged.

I just like the idea that there is only one thread debating 1/2 ton vs 3/4ton tow vehicles.

Considering it is a problem that people are still buying trailers that exceed the weight safety ratings of the tow vehicle, should a thread like this ever be closed?

There are many current towing threads that are active, without resurrecting a 3 year old thread.

It will level your ride back out, but won't increase your weight ratings of the truck.
