Trailer connection problems
On my way home last trip a my DIC kept telling me teller connected..... Trailer disconnected..... Trailer connected...... Over and over....... Every few seconds......I got a 7 way tester that test the connections..... The BK keeps flashing...... As if looking for the brakes. ....I would think it should fool the truck but it does not.
It never goes solid when if I use the foot breaker or the controller...... All other functions are good. This problem started all of a sudden.... Is the BK actually a hot wire or ground.
This is a built in controller from factory, 2011 Chevy 2500 hd diesel. Pulling 2013 Coachman 39 foot.

Sorry for being a little thick... but what are you calling a BK?

I wish everyone would stop using initials and spell stuff out. You want to know what BK is,,,, I want to know what DIC is. We are not mind readers. Sorry but this happens ALOT!

If so. What the hell is this Black thing that is flashing?? As for the Abv's it's a millennium thing caused by cell phone texting. The ability to spell is being lost.

My experience with trailer lights brakes and such has shown that these problems are usually a problem with a ground somewhere on camper or truck.

I'm going to try my best.. Dic is the driver info center on the chevy... Bk, maybe a.spelled wrong brake controller? Trying to decode..

I think he means that a warning keeps flashing that the BLACK wire in the trailer connector is disconnected. Either that, or the wire to the trailer BraKes (BK?) .

Had this happen on my 15 2500 silverado. Did you have the inverter on. I noticed mine came on more frequently when i had the inverter on. Im guessing its a battery drain issue cause it always happened after about 2hrs of driving.

I have had the same issue On My 2012 Silverado 2500HD as well as my previous truck with the same trailer on both, a 2012 Coachman Catalina.
This is most likely an issue with the trailer, as someone else mentioned, possible a ground. I’d double check all your connections on the trailer pig tail and make sure it isn’t corroded. I carry some DeToxit spray to clean my connection periodically.
I had a different driver induced incident that forced me to get a new pig tail. Needless to say I’ve not had the issue sense.

You have a wiring issue on the trailer. Bad grounds are common. Also wires chaffed or worn through in the axle tube or near the brake magnet.
If you have another (modern) truck to test with, there is a small small chance it's a bad module (don't remember which is most common, but depends on brand anyway) in the truck.
Isn't DIC driver information center, right?

The tester had markings on it. Rt, lt, etc for the connections. The BK is the brake one.... Which is pin 2 at 5 o'clock.

I had a similar issue on my Ford. Turned out to be corrosion in the connector. Cleaned it out and all was well.
Using probes on a volt meter can poke thru the corrosion and give a false good reading...

Yes about DIC... The 7 way tester is supposed to act like a trailer connected..... And I never get a solid indication on the 7 way tester on the BK LIGHT, which is the brake output I believe, at pin 2. So I think the problem is on the truck. But in order to trouble shoot I needed to know how pin 2( breaker output) works. Is it a ground or a hot wire.

If it we're me, I'd verify the tester on another truck. Maybe one at the dealership or a friend's or something.

I have the Tekonsha 7 pole tester but it won't fool my Ford into thinking there's a trailer attached. Probably because the indicators are LEDs with very low current draw.
Did you upgrade to LED lighting? Seems like "everything" comes thru the car's computer or one of the several computers embedded in the car. Putting LED lights on a trailer will confuse these systems as well. If LEDs are used in lieu of conventional bulbs many if not most ECUs will indicate a fault or "fast flash" on older systems. There are LEDs which don't cause this. "CANBUS enabled" or similar name and they have additional resistance in them to fool the computers. Replacing all or several conventional bulbs with LEDs could easily fool the trailer into thinking there was nothing attached back there. Tail lights? Nope. Marker lights? Nope. etc. Ummmm, nothing back there. Trailer must not be there either.
Don't know about GM cars but I can access the computer in my Ford with software and do things like disable "fast flash", activate Daytime Running Lights, extinguish bright indicators on the panel, etc. We're not driving these, the computers are running them for us.
