There were extenuating circumstances behind that, driving too fast, not correcting in time, etc. If they were driving a 1/2 ton, they would have been dead long before the bridge. For all we know, the mass of the F350 is what saved them.

I’m sure it all depends on what engine, what year, and what the sticker on the bottom of the hitch shows, plus what the actual payload of the truck is and the actual weighed trailer specs. The rest is guessing.
1320 is the Ford F-150 Max Tow hitch, standard hitch at that time maximum was 1160 with WDH.
