Truck shopping
DW said go get a new bigger truck don't have to tell me twice .... will take time and some walking away to find best deal and for me to decide gas or diesel ... I did build sheets on 2020 Ram SRW 3500 crew cab 8' bed yesterday gas and diesel .... diesel is about $7000 more than gas .... I really want a diesel ... asked the salesman to look for another $5000 somewhere and let me know when ready ... one thing I did not know you receive no incentive discounts until you take delivery ... so quoted price could go down $1000-$5000 no way to know .... one nice option on 2020 Crew cab is 50 gallon fuel tank $295 .... best deal may be in a 2019 just have to find the right deal ... $10,000 off sticker at least .. there are no 2020 HD's on the lots only 2020 1500 .... no need to debate gas vs diesel I know the diesel pulls better ... I just need to justify the number of towing days and the fact that 90% of my towing will be FL GA AL Tenn and SC ... we should avg 60-70 days camping a year ... I checked bed height and only about 1 inch higher than my 1500 .... I will keep ya'll updated

Shop hard!
Due diligence.
I found that the big three all make a good truck.
Since the DW would be the principle driver she had the final word.
She disliked the Ford look. No comment, politically correct.
She drove and hated the Chevrolet. No comment, politically correct.
She loved the sound of the traditional sounding Cummins. She just liked it better all around.
Who can figure!
When traveling with a fiver I cannot imagine loosing the ability to fill up at truck lanes! With gas one has to be very careful at the pumps.
Our diesel will go about 300 miles between fill ups towing. About right for a day.
Resale on the Cummins diesel is generally $7000 higher over gas. So eventually you get your money back.
Happy shopping. Get running boards and seat coolers. Great on long trips.

You are buying at the right time of year....the end of it! Lol. If you can find one in stock then you are in the pilot seat when it comes time to make the deal. In another week or two they will throw their own mother out the window to move a unit.
December is about the only time I have bought a vehicle. The last one, a Powerstroke 6.7, I bought on the last day of the year. I found out through the service department that it was essentially sold at cost. They threw in a spray in bed liner, 120k/9 year warranty and used lender credits to buy down my rate to 2.7% for 72 months. They did that because my sale put them in the next bracket for Ford to dealer bonuses.

You can check on-line dealers for a new truck too. I would go to any vehicle manufactures truck site, build and price your truck on that site. I would than print that build sheet with the prices of the truck you wanted. You can than submit what you wanted to several dealers asking what they can offer you. This can all be done on line and let them bid against each other for your business.

We picked up our truck 3 years and one week ago exactly after 2 months of shopping around. We got about 18% off msrp so I don’t feel like I paid for the Diesel engine. A dedicated dealer will find a discount somewhere.
I’m not sure about the 19s and up, but S&B tanks now has a 50 gallon tank for the ‘18 and older CCSB Rams. Previously Titan only had a tank for mega cab or long box truck.

Maybe it's just FL but I can't imagine purchasing anything and not knowing the final price with all incentives.

It was and so far so good

Curious are you locked in when you travel to pick it up? I know when I was shopping for a new Diesel Ram, that I test drove 5 or 6 trucks, and of those, only 2 of them did not have a rear end howl in the ring and pinion. Coincidentaly this is why I got rid of my 2016 ram 2500, the rear end just howled at certain speeds. They acknowledged it but didnt do much to fix it. One of the 2500 Diesels I test drove was so loud I was worried it wouldnt get back to the dealership. Only the one I bought, and another G56 truck with 30K miles on it had a silent rear gear set and i would have been beyond ticked if I found my new truck making that noise and was still obligated to purchase!

I think it was just hit and miss.Mine is a 3500 and its quiet. I know like most issues that crop up, many folks had issues with it, however i'm sure it was a very small percentage overall. But make sure you get it up to speed on a roadway,60-75 is where most of them made noise. If you can even barely here it when letting off the gas and coasting, or accelerating, then it will not get better and only get louder as you put more mile son the truck. FWIW, I couldnt even get Ram to pull the diff cover to inspect my diff under warranty, I paid a seperate shop to do it. There was no weird wear and backlash was correct, it was just noisy and got louder as time wen ton. I first took it in at 800 miles I think on the odometer, I took it in I think 5 times total before I finally got rid of it at like 16K.
Chances are it will be nice and quiet like its supposed to be though!
