TV Help!!

I have a 2000 silverado 2500, 4WD reg cab. OEM tow package, 410 rear end, with LT265/75r16 tires.

The only numbers I have on my door panel are as follows...
GVWR 8600
GAWR frt 4410
GAWR rr 6000

The 5er i am fixing to purchase is 36.5' has a dry weight of 10,039lbs cargo capacity of 2097
pin weight is 1795
hitch weight 150lbs
passenger weight 350lbs
full tank of gas 200lbs

Can I tow this 5er with this truck? Thanks, great site!!!

need to know if it's a gasser or diesel. if gasser, which engine.
and you didn't provide the payload of your truck, most important when looking to tow a 5th wheel.
the 4.10 helps.

Payload is the GVWR-the weight of the truck. Might be marked as CCC, but it's better to get it weighed at a scale and calculate yourself. The sticker'd CCC doesn't account for some variations and definitely doesn't include the weight of passengers.

You're quoting the trailer's dry weight so unless you don't plan to put anything in it you should be using the trailer's loaded weight which in your case is 12,136 pounds.

Pin weight is usually in the 20 to 25% range of the trailer's total weight so in reality the loaded pin weight could be up to around 2,500 pounds.

FWIW... my last truck was a 2500HD (2010 D/A) which had a GVWR of 9,200 pounds with a dry weight of 7,200 so it only left me with 2,000 pound payload. So with all the things you described when I weighed the truck & trailer I was over the truck's capacity by 1,300 pounds but was under the RAWR. The RAWR on these 3/4 tons is limited by the E rated tire capacity which is just over 3,000 pounds a side.

First thing you should do is get the truck weighed empty so you know what you have for a payload to work with, add in all the goodies you have with the "loaded" pin weight and decide from there.

ok, I'm still a little confused... my door sticker only gave the info I put on here. So is it looking like I don't have enough truck?

Sometimes it's on a different sticker. On my Ram, it's on the same sticker as my tire pressure ratings.

My bad... sorry about that...

I edited the post to say you should be using the "trailer's" loaded weight!

Mine is a regular cab 6.0 [2500] gasser 2005.

ok maybe a little more to go on here.... My GVWR is 8600lbs
I just weighed the truck with me in it and a full tank of gas at 5810lbs
my wife will add another 150, hitch 120 and if I use Ruby's figure of 2500 lbs
king pin weight which I am assuming would be about max, I come up with
5810 + 150 + 120 + 2500 which would = 8580lbs. so it looks like I can take my wife and maybe a sandwich. That's max on the king pin tho. I will never have this trailer fully loaded, never will have potable water on board. So does it look like I'm good here?

So far sounds good. But if you really want to crunch your numbers than there's a member on here who runs a site with some calculators (Learn To RV: What Can I Tow?). Using these, you can get a better idea of whether or not you'll be in the limits. He tries to cover a lot of things people might forget.
