Used Chevy Silverado

Looking at a 2011 3/4 ton 6.6 Diesel with 150000 miles on it to tow a large boat. What issues or concerns should I have with this truck. He's asking 29000 for it seems high but it's very very clean. Feed back would be very helpful.

I love my 2014 duramax 6.6. It tows my 12,300 lb fiver with no issues. The exhaust brake is fantastic! I gave it a good test on a long 8.5% grade and it never struggled with going up or down the mountain. It is currently in the shop with a steering/braking issue that is being attributed to a bad gearbox. Dealership is getting that fixed up and gave me a loaner car in the meantime. I would check nada values for the price but diesels do hold their value. I would say 150k miles on a 2011 is some pretty high mileage/usage.

I'm quite happy with mine! I have about 70000 miles on it and the fuel mileage is still getting better. It's my daily driver and I'm getting a little better than 17...but I also have all terrain tires so that knocks it down a little.

Only issue that I have run across is that over the last two years it has gone thru 3 glow plugs (all different ones) but they are covered by the extended engine warranty GM has on the 2011 Duramax.

2011 was the first year of the LML platform. When they first came out, they were having a lot of dosing issues with the SCR system. With that many miles, I would be willing to bet that at one point it has made it back to the dealer to be updated. The other thing about the LML is the high pressure fuel pump they used, and are still using. They are a Bosch CP4. They have been known to completely explode internally and send hard parts all through the fuel system. I have heard that it costs somewhere in the 12k range to replace all of the fuel system. It is not very common, but it does happen.
