Your tongue weight will come from the No WD truck weight minus the first truck weight GVW. In your case:

(3700+5260) - (4200+3480) = Tongue weight
8960 - 7680 = 1280

As far as % of tongue weight for your trailer:
1280 + 6740 = 8020
1280/8020 = 15.96% tongue weight.

The tongue weight may be a little on the heavy side but it's nothing that would be worrisome. If you do want to lighten the tongue a little, move some of the gear out of the front of the trailer and put it at or just behind the axles on the trailer.

As far as your front axle, you may want to tension the WD bars a bit more. That will force more weight transfer to the front and get your truck closer to it's stock, front axle weight.

It pulled really good, 30 miles each way to CAT scales and back. It was not windy and believe it or not, not one Semi passed me on trip there or the trip back so not sure how push and pull is for passing trucks yet. I,m using the Fastway E2 hitch so maybe I should add a washer to help get more weight pushed up front. My truck front unhooked was 41"- W/O W/D rased it to 41 3/4"
W/WD brought it back down to 411/4".

I don'[t think you have any "TWINKING" to do


Nor do I think you have any tweaking to do either, unless you decide to see if you can add more weight back to the front axle. But, seeing as you're within 1/4 inch of truck only height, with WD engaged, I suspect any additional twinks or tweaks will put you past the 41" truck only height.


If it handles nicely, I'd tow as is, for now and adjust later if need be.

Clark - Thank you for your reply. I have the same truck and a very similar trailer, with almost the exact same measurements. Your comment about moving weight forward made me understand how the scales can help me fine tune my setup. I have read a zillion posts on scales and this one finally got through! lol! Thanks!
