Superior engineering

Love my 2017 4X4 F150 XLT CC with 6 1/5' bed. 3.5 2nd generation EcoBoost with 10 speed transmission. 3:55 with locker. Always stays in correct gear for grade and rated to pull over 11k trailer. Best truck I've ever owned.

And can you summarize your build?

Cab, bed, trim level?

I need another truck, motorcycle, RV like a hole in the head.
But I'd love to have a max tow F150.
They are such incredible daily drivers when not working them.
Mine is a 4X4 super cab / 8' box, 3:73 gears, back up camera, trailer back up (no good for 5th wheel), tail gate step, 10 speed transmission and the 301.B? option group (power drivers seat, rear window and mirror defrost), 40/20/40 seats, rubber floor (no carpet), running boards. It came with a sprayed in box liner and I had them throw in a Bak Flip box cover, skid plates and mud flaps. I need the 8' box for work and my only passenger is my wife so the super cab works fine. It doesn't have the trailer tow mirrors, but that's fine, I don't really want those elephant ears when I'm driving around town, the slide on ones work fine. They are hard to find as the dealers don't order them in, if you find one on a lot it is probably a cancelled fleet model. You can order them though. I was too late to get a 2017 ordered so mine had to brought in from St. Paul (2 hours away), and I had to see the payload on the yellow sticker before I would sign.

The Max payload can come with 2 different RAWR, 4500 or 4800, mine has the 4800lbs. You also get an extra leaf spring, bigger gear set, bigger tranny cooler, LT tires. It's about a 1000.00 option.

I did special order mine. It took six weeks to get. It is hard to find a Screw with 6 1/2' bed, max tow package and tow mirrors on anty Ford dealership's lot. No regrets. Order in late April or May and take advantage of Ford cash. My 150's MSRP was $58,500, I paid $46,500.

Love my Eco-Boost We have pulled our Flagstaff 8528IKWS (5er) on our Southern Excursions (Alabama, Louisiana, & Texas) from Michigan. Been through the Texas Hill Country several times. Not mountains but, we haven't found a hill we can't go up easily and have passed many of the other brands & 3/4's on those hills. No reason for you to not get an Ecoboost. See my signature for ideas on what to look for when buying.

We had a 2014 and now a 2016. Tows like a dream and gets great mileage for a truck.. we have noticed at every camp ground this summer the majority of tow vehicles are fords. I would say that many people cant be wrong. Chev and dodge are second to them. Don't get me wrong I love all 3 of those vehicles, but the odds speak for themselves. It's a 28 ft we are towing.

I do have the max trailer tow package and from what I hear it makes a big difference.
Btw I had a dodge 5.7 he and thought it was the best truck ever bit the ford is half again the truck it was...

I have loved mine! 3 cross country trips totaling 20k miles of towing. It still puts a grin on my face at how effortless it is. If you stay at 7k pounds or less and be careful with payload, you will be towing as effortless as most anything on the road.

Some great testimony here...preferred to the 6.0 diesel, 6.4 gas...that's saying something.

I have had two F150 ecoboost pickups, both as reliable as the day is long. Got 130,000 out of my 2013 with no problems before trading it in on the new Aluminum F150. These things tow like a diesel. Don't listen to the anti- eco guys, their just jealous that their Chevy/GMC/Ram's can beat it towing or not towing. You'll get all the anti eco baloney just like the one reply. Drive one and check it out. I'll never get another brand as long as I stay in the 1/2 ton area. The eco uses regular gas, the 6.2 in the GM trucks are OK but you have to use premium all the time and the 6.4 hemi is a good motor but you have to use mid-range when not towing and premium when you are. Ford does say that you should use premium when towing but I have towed with regular and premium and I can't tell the difference. I'm not putting down the rest of the trucks because they all make great trucks but that little eco will amaze you.

Ecoboost

I have an F150 3.5 Ecoboost that I use to tow a Windjammer 3029 that weighs in at 8400 lbs when packed. Towed multiple times through the Smokies and Appalachians. Also, went out west to Yellowstone and topped a 9500 foot pass. It all depends on the weight of the trailer.

Cool

My wife and I went looking for a TV and thought we should look at used ones.
We found a 2014 3.5L EB Super Crew Lariat on one lot with 55K on it for $33'ish but didn't like the color of it.
On the other Ford lot we found a 2014 Certified King Ranch Super Crew with 75K on it for $35'ish.
The salesman wanted to at least see what the owner would give us for our trade so we thought why not at least see what our 2016 Honda Pilot was worth.
After seeing what they offered I said well before we jump to conclusions on used what would a new one be?
They had a 2017 3.5L EB Super Crew with Max Tow pkg on it and everything else we wanted so we drove it. After talking about the incentives etc. the price was only a little over 5K more than the used one.
Well it is sitting in the driveway and we are going down to sign the papers on it tomorrow.

Wow great, just make sure you have enough payload for what you plan to tow.

This is Blatantly False..I mean you can tout the Eco Boost if you want, I owned one for 3 years and 60K miles, and I agree with most of it, But keep it real!

My 6.4 has seen nothing but 87 towing or not towing..

One of my buddies has a 6.4 and he gripes about the cost of premium. I think it's a 2016 2500. What year is your truck? Maybe they tweaked the engine?

get the 2017 3.5 Ecoboost with the max tow.
depending on what you are planning to tow be it a 5th wheel or a sway behind as we nick name them you won't have any issues.
we started with an 11 then traded to a 13 and now have a 16 with max tow. Added Airlift suspension to take the bounce from our disgusting highways and horrible over passes here in NB out.

When I traded or 2013 in we made 5 grand over the amount we owed because we take care of our stuff. I made 5400 selling our first trailer and 2 grand selling our second trailer.
Traded in the 22RR Greywolf (which was a 2017) and broke almost even.

The 2018 KZ toy hauler is the keeper.

Truck knows its there when fully loaded but I still pass Chevs and Dodges pulling smaller trailers and those guys faces in the mirrors are priceless to look at especially when DW waves as we drive by.

We never see a Toyota or Nissan hauling - I wonder why?

make sure you get 10 ply LT truck tires because no one should haul with P rated ones installed.

I have a friend who tows a 34' toy hauler with his 3.5 ecoboost from Alabama to Ohio o few times a year and he says it has little trouble other than the trailer can wag the truck because of the weight and he says passing is a problem but he is OK with it. He does say that the mileage is no better than on a V8 though when towing.

Sway behinds due to the bumper mount are noted for that especially when being passed by transport trucks.one has to pull to the right slightly to break the air suck off the side of the trailer.

the mileage may also not be much better than a V8 while towing - its the torque that pays off.
My sons have a Ford 5.0 and can't haul as much as I can.
Most trucks are below what the Ecoboost is for that matter.

I got 23.7 on average hauling from NB Canada to Buffalo through the states with the 4700 lb bumper tow toy hauler.
got 21.7 on average hauling the 5th wheel 8420 dry weight toy hauler through Ontario Quebec and NB coming home.
aerodynamics plays a big part in the mileage as everyone knows.

a bullet flies better than a brick through the air.

Wow, those pre- owned ones are up there in price. Maybe I should re-think selling mine.....LOL ! They are very good trucks! Check the CCC on drivers door to make sure your good, and if so, enjoy your new truck !

This was the main reason I went to the 2500.. I was near my capacities and sometimes had sway.. I also agree that fuel economy is not the strong point of the motor.. When I first got my ram 2500 it was noticeably worse than the ecoboost, but now with 5K miles on it, it is dead even pulling the same trailer on the same roads.
