WDH question

I just finished setting up my WDH and I'm hoping someone could let me know if my numbers are good.

Before hooking up the trailer, my truck had the following numbers:
Front wheel well was 37"
Rear wheel well was 37 1/4"

After adjusting my WDH I had:
Front wheel well is 36 3/4"
Rear wheel well is 36 3/4"

Is that what is should be?

Also I have a Husky Centerline TS, the passenger side trunnion is a lot harder to get off, no matter if I do it first or second. Should this be the case?

Front after WDH should not be lower than unloaded.

Unless you are very level ground one bar will always be harder than the other. Raise the tongue a bit more.

So I need to readjust it? What about the rear?

The rear doesn't matter. Suspensions on every truck are different and one truck may drop 1/2 inch and another may drop 1 inch with the same trailer. 1/4 inch lower on the front may not cause any ill effects on the steering. Most truck owners manuals have instructions for setting up a WDH.

1/4" on front seems insignificant. The rear height seems good also. These are only the starting points in adjustments and can vary with changing loads in TV and TT and can than be used to fine tune it avoiding extremes where front or rear loads cause instability. Get a manual and necessary wrenches and you will feel confident in your work. Left and right Trunion bars do vary in pressure caused by TV not being in line with TT and ground height among many other causes.

Thanks everyone. Is there usually much of a difference between ball height when measuring with a truck bed loaded vs unloaded? The reason I'm asking is that if I have to adjust a ball height for camping vs taking it to storage or the dealer, I will have to adjust it a lot which will become annoying.

If this were a 3/4 or more truck, I would not be concerned about the 1/4" front drop from original. However, being lower in the front means there is more weight in the front than stock. Depending on how much weight has actually been transferred, it is possible to overload the front axle and not realize it. Especially if this vehicle already has the largest powertrain package available at the time. Not all 1/2-ton trucks will have much front capacity.

If the front is lower than stock, it would be wise to get a scale reading, loaded for camping, including front driver and passenger. Probably not an urgent thing, but worth checking when you get near a CAT scale on your next trip out.
