Only adjust the L brackets to make the weight bars pararell to the trailer frame. Add or remove washers to adjust the weight transfer. If the bars are not pararell you will have horrendous noise.

Actually, I didn't forget. I consider the WDH kit payload, not TW. TW is a parameter of the trailer while sitting by itself, which does not include the WDH kit. I understand where you are coming from, but no WDH maker has you add the weight of their WDH to your trailer's TW, in order to determine the size kit they recommend to you. You simply use the TW of your trailer.

You may be right, but you may be wrong. Why would they tell me to include the weight of the hitch when choosing a size when they already know it? They already know what it is and have most likely already included it in their spring bar sizing calculations.

Based on SAE ratings the only place you will see the weight of the WDH added is to the payload (GVW) of the vehicle. Some hitch manufactures like to include all the weight added behind the rear axle, since the hitch will essentially have to act on that weight as well. If that’s the case the spare tire on most trucks would have to be considered which is kinda nonsense.

My main point was not to debate the issue that you brought up (where to include weight of WDH). I was mainly stating that I didn't "forget" anything. I stated exactly what I meant. If Dusty is correct about the SAE specs, that seems to support my line of thinking.

Those that add lots of weight behind the rear axle of the vehicle, add hitch weight and try to return the front to its original height are doing it wrong. One should only use the WDH to compensate for the effects of hitch load not in addition to cargo in the bed.
