Weighed my truck waiting to pick up new 5er

I went to the CAT scales today and weighed my truck in the exact configuration we will be towing. Me, wife, full tank of gas, some tools and the Andersen Ultimate. 2015 Chevy 2500 4x4 CC 6.0 gas with Curt gooseneck and Andersen Ultimate. Also have air bags with remote.

Front: 4060
Drive: 3300
Total: 7360

With a 9500 lbs GVWR, that leaves me 2,140 lbs for the pin weight. Sticker on the truck's B pillar says CCC is 2,791. Wife and I weigh 400 lbs so the actual CCC is 2,540 as configured. Not too bad considering everything I added.

Trailer is a 2021 Salem Hemisphere 290RL.

So, any bets on what the actual pin weight will be? Hope it's not too much over 2,000 lbs.

I wouldn't even bother worrying about it you fill up the basement and the rest of the unit with all your stuff. If you're over the GVWR a bit I wouldn't worry about that either since you will be well under you axle ratings. Enjoy your new fiver.

Doesn't the hitch weight count as cargo? I think its hitch wt, pin wt, and people/luggage wt that total up for cargo.

Is this the reason you appear to be ok on your cargo number while over on GVWR? (assuming max trailer loading)

I am starting to think about moving up from a TT to a 5er and will need to decide between 3/4 and 1 ton truck. Its not that much more $ between them but I am wondering about ride, other issues.

It looks like the 3/4 is kind of marginal on the ratings for a 10000 lb trailer.

For a 1/2 ton it looks like you usually max out on cargo which seems to occur around 8000 lb(at least for my 2016 with a 1625 cargo). It looks like the much larger cargo capacity of the 3/4 is swallowed up with the hitch and the 20% loading of the 5er vs about 10% for a TT.

Picked up the trailer and went straight to the CAT scales:

Truck weights
Front 4060
Drive 3300

Truck with trailer weights

Pin 1920

FR Spec from web site:

Dry weight: 9,919
Dry pin: 1,825

Dry weight from sticker on trailer: 9,772.

That's with 2x30 gal full propane tanks and 2 x group24 batteries in the front. Remove 60 lbs of propane and 90 lbs of batteries and my pin weight would be spot on per FR spec.

So my guess is that the weights from FR are pretty darn close to reality. So much for fictional weights.

Got the camper home, loaded it up with everything and then some and filled up the fresh water tank. Then went to the scales. All looks good. Right at GVWR for the truck but still have 800 lbs on the rear axles. And the trailer is 1105 lbs under GVWR even with full fresh tanks (empty grey and black). I think this combo will work nicely.
