Weight distribution hitch

I have a 2015 F150 5.0 pulling a 27foot Wildwood. When I open the tailgate it hits the jack. Is there a extension or something that I can use to get the weight distribution hitch further away so I can open the tailgate.

My 2017 GMC 2500 hits the jack as well...….a minor annoyance.

I would not suggest using a hitch receiver extension such as this https://www.globalindustrial.ca/p/ve...yABEgIlW_D_BwE (if this is what you're considering) with a WDH.

Some turn the jack side ways for clearance. If you do a search you should be able to find it.

My current Sierra and previous Sierra, I clear the jack by about 1/8".

Getting an extension, lowers the weight carrying capabilities of the hitch receiver.
Not advised.
Try rotating the jack, that's what I had to do on my F150.

You guys using manual crank jacks? Would take me an hour to hook up and set my WDH bars with one. Fortunately I have a lift door, not a tailgate.

I did not use an extension, but I did buy a longer shank for the hitch ball "head". HUGE mistake. Seemed to make it sway even more than it did before.

For best towing, keep your ball tucked up as close as you can get it to the rear of your truck. Even a few inches makes a world of difference.

P.S. I finally went with a ProPride hitch. Due to their configuration, the jack will be about a foot farther back than with a standard hitch. I can open my barn doors on the Excursion, or drop the tailgate on the Ram with no issue. A word of warning, they are very, very expensive ($3K) and it would be silly to buy one just for tailgate clearance. But you would also wind up with the best bumper-pull towing experience you ever had to boot, so there is that...

X2. I have plenty of room to drop the tailgate on my F-150 due to the Propride hitch.
