The new truck just did not pull that much better

I am thinking that the trailer brakes were dragging all the time and that is why it feel like it had low power

Just guess how much power you will have when your brakes are not dragging....

I am also concerned about damage to the trailer brakes since they had 3.56 volts to them all the time.

I had a camper for over 10 years and talked to an RV service manager about changing out the break pads. He asked if I had any problems, which I said no. He said that the pads could last the life of the camper if used right.

These are electric, not hydraulic, which I think will not lock up the camper with the low voltage that you had. You may have burned some pad off, but I think that it will be fine. Find out why the voltage was low and set the breaks correctly. Then see how great your TV will pull that TT.

Just got off the phone with the dealer to make an appointment to have the controller checked. They are sending someone to pick up the truck and hope to have an answer this afternoon.

I already have an appointment at the local RV repair shop for some other warranty issues, so I'll have them check the brakes while it is there.

You shouldn't even realize that trailer is behind you! If you were getting voltage without brake being applied, you have a problem. The integrated brake controller in the Chevy/GMC trucks are great when they are working properly. You should also have your hitch set properly, as the truck has the ability to sense a sway (although it has to be fairly severe) and will automatically apply trailer brakes to correct. It works in conjunction with the anti-locks. At least that's what the manual says.

The dragging brakes would slow you down. I would think a duramax could pull trees out of the ground! Are you using the integrated brake control? It sounds like a different controller is in order after a wiring check.

They installed a new ITBC module and now it works great. Offered to pay for trailer brakes if needed. Have an appointment to have the TT brakes checked. The integrated trailer brake is so smooth compared to my old system no more jerking when brakes applies at slow speeds. Truck pulls like crazy .

Kinda glad my old standby 5.9 doesnt have to clean its exhaust filter. Makes me want to keep it longer. Checking into the Schaffers, doesnt look to common around here. A NAPA store 100 miles away sells it according to the web site.

Use that exhaust brake, and you'll find yourself hardly using your brakes at all! Coming off an interstate, my truck's exhaust brake will slow my rig to the point I just have to apply at the very end of a stop.
