I may look into renting a dually for a couple of days just to see how it rides empty

I have a 2010 3/4 ton chevy 4x4 and a 2005 quad cab dually Ram diesel 2wd. The Ram is a way more nicer ride empty than the chevy. Living in mid Michigan having 4wd isn't a necessity, the dually being my only ride (besides the wife's car) never had any problems. Bought the used chevy to save wear and tear on the dodge, as the price for a new diesel truck means mine has to last forever.

I drive my dually daily as well, I find that it is much easier to back into a space as opposed to pulling in. You can't go wrong towing with a dually - its a night and day difference!

Put about 1000# in the bed and I know the ride will be much smoother.

This just a question for dually owners, I have a TST TPMS on SRW. I really like the TPMS, can you install a TST 507 on a dually? I’m asking about all four rear tires

Good move...You will find the easier drive and enjoy it more, plus get better towing fuel mileage.

As for the parking, just park out a little farther, enjoy the walk and know that someone is not going to bash your doors in...take care

I thought a SRW got better fuel mileage than a dually

I'd agree, but this was referring to what he had before when he was overloaded.

6 years ago I bought a Montana 5er. I agonized over a DRW or SRW. I ended up with a SRW Ram 3500 because of parking issues, tire replacement cost issues drive thru issues, damaged rear fender flair issues and mostly, fitting it in my garage issues. Well I pulled that Montana for 6 years with the SRW and never had an issue even once. Never was I sorry I had the SRW. No problems ever. This year, I downsized to a new 26RKS from Outdoors RV and I'm also getting a new 3500 and it WON'T be a dually! After 6 years with an even bigger and heavier Montana behind me, there's just no way I'm putting up with the headaches of a dually! My new trailer has a dry pin weight of 1995 and a max trailer weight of under 12K so both are considerably less than my previous Montana, and I didn't need a dually with that one. I see people saying "night and day difference" and I just scratch my head wondering what the heck they must be pulling?!? I suppose at some weight point I too would want a dually, but I'll never get there. Heck the Montana was too big for my lifestyle! I just couldn't get it into the places I love to visit. So I agree a dually is smart at some point, but that point was beyond my Montana 3400RL somewhere.

Which means that two extra wheels give me an extra truck load of payload. Also means that when I do finally tow with it. That will be the first time in 4 years and 3 trucks that I won’t be overweight. Have you seen the new 2019 Chevy? They are actually prepping the 3500 dually with fifth wheel attachment. Approximate cost at $9500 with attachments. Unknown if other manufacturers are doing the same. Had an opportunity to see this truck and take pictures. See photo.

I know Ford has been offering a fifth wheel prep package for years. Would think Chevy and Ram have been too.

I have a non-flow-through TST system on my GMC dually. Had to install steel valve stems and it's a PITA to get at the inner sensors, but it works.

I can’t argue with you you’re SRW worked great for you and mine worked great for me. I bought my SRW thinking I would have plenty of towing and payload and honestly it did ( yes after I traded it in and was comparing numbers it hit me I was over payload when fully loaded by less than 500 pounds) I towed never had problems. Yes I have to back in the dually to get the motorcycle out of drive way. However my ride is smoother parking is easier because turn radius is tighter. That said other than bring trl from back yard to front ( the squat) when loaded was about the same and I have less than 300 miles on odometer.

Yes Chevy is the last to do this I believe. Ram claims to have the highest towing capacity using their hitch, but with the insanely high numbers of the big 3 claim hard for one to go wrong when choosing

I must be missing something here but my B&W did not cost anywhere near that price to get the hitch installed. What am I missing

I have never weighed my truck and camper. I think I’m okay with the weight but probably not with the hundred gallon fuel tank full. One day I’ll weigh everything, probably be looking at a dually then

I was thinking the same thing, seems really pricey to me.

I have seen factory installed hitches and personally I had rather have a B&W
