What can I expect?

Was hoping someone could give me an idea of what to expect pulling a 6600 lb trailer (listed weight on trailer) with my 2012 F-150 5.0 engine with the towing package, WD/antisway hitch and keeping all my weight limits just below spec. Will the ride be tolerable or will I be asking for trouble? Hoping for the best but don't want to have to sell my TV already. Thanks, especially from anyone who has a similar set up.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking what it's like to tow a heavy trailer close to the limits? On good clear days, on relatively flat land and good roads, it should be a breeze as long as you allow good distances between you and the vehicles in front of you and keep your speed 65 or under. It's on hilly terrain, and/or windy conditions, and not so good roads you might have more of an adventure. But if you are careful and take it easy, you should be fine.
These experiences will make you appreciate it when you finally buy a more powerful/stronger TV.

There are a few calculations that you must make. Here is one of many links that come up when you Google "Trailer Towing Calculation"

Matching a Tow Vehicle & Trailer 101 - RV UNIVERSITY

Educate yourself and don't take short cuts or make assumptions. The safety of yout family and others on the road depend on it.

Did you buy this trailer or are you contemplating buying it. The only way to know for sure if you are within your TV's ratings is to take it to a scale.

You will be fine. Hook it up and go. Take it slow and easy till you get a feel for it. Just don't expect to hop in and go as normal. You will definitely know the trailer is behind you.

That is my experience towing with a Tundra. Leave plenty of space in front of you to stop or maneuver. Stay in the right lane, 65 or a little under. You and your truck will do fine.

It reads you have the trailer package, WD Hitch, and are under your spec weights, if that's the case your good to go! Do you have a long wheel base ? If so, that will help also!

My TT was at about 6500 lbs. rolling down the road (did not carry water). You are at that now empty.

What part of country are you located ? Type of camping ? I would suggest not loading fire wood, generator, four wheeler, etc

Pack lite if possible !

As stated above, the most important part is the safety of your family, and other families on the roadways !

Happy Camping !

I agree-I have towed 2 different 5 th wheels with my F150 5.4 liter w trailer tow pkg (4x4 SHORT BED) with slider ..Just take it easy, give yourself a little more time, have a good trailer brake controller and you will be fine. One was a 5 er with dry wt of 7400 and my present one is a dry wt of 8010 have ASOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS- TRUCK DOES NOT SQUAT-- VERY LEVEL FROM FRONT BUMBER TO REAR CAMPER BUMPER- a bigger truck is NOT MORE POWERFUL unless it has a bigger engine and different trans in my case a 3/4 ton or 1 ton with same powertrain has no more power than my 150- now stability, more wt payload, larger brake pads is a factor.

finally got trailer weight finalized

After panicking about the weight of my ordered 2304DS I have finally figured out that the weight listed from my dealer on my registration paperwork is actually the trailers GVWR and not the delivered UVW! I thought I was going to be overweight with the options before I even loaded the trailer for camping. That is the trouble when the dealer and DMV do not use the appropriate terms when throwing weight numbers around. I now have an extra 1200 lbs. to spare... whew!

Same truck only in a 2013. 3.35 rear axle means my max towing is 8,100 lbs. My 2906ws with full water and food tops out at just short of 8,000 last I weighed it. Tows fine, but wind is exciting as is getting passed by a semi while going downhill.

Be alert and you are fine. Plenty of power though.

ProPride hitch question

What makes the ProPride hitch that much better than the Equal-i-zer?

If you do a search on this site (or Airstream, F-150 owners forum etc..)
you will find plenty of actual testimonials on those who have had both.

Yeah I have the same truck with the 3.5 EB. Bought a new 282RK Hemisphere and towed last year with a cheap round bar WDH with friction sway controls. Not this year, it will be a new Propride for me also. What I have invested already, 2500 more to complete this rig and make it safer and more enjoyable seems worth it to me.
