It may be somewhere above, but brake fluid is hydrophilic, it draws water. Water compresses, not as much as air but it does. So changing the fluid every say 8-10 years, willkeep brakes from get spongy from water in the fluid.
Blinker fluid is a whole other matter.

X2. Nobody does it, but they should.
It comes out pretty gross, considering it's supposed to be clear.

Just got my truck back from the dealer. Ford F-150 apparently have had a problem with their power door locks since 2016 at least. Poor door seals allow water in and they freeze up. My drivers and rear door would not unlock with the power locks, just the passenger side. The key did operate the drivers lock. VERY frustrating climbing over the front seats to unlock the rears.
NOT a recall, not a TSB, it's FSA 18N03 field service something for 2018. 2019s aren't listed so the dealer had to call Ford for authorization. Same prob as 2018s.
Anyways, bad freezing rain last night, power lock remote worked on all doors this morning

I've been working on Volvo cars since 1986 and changing brake fluid is something that has been part of the maintenance schedule the whole time. This is the first that I have heard of an american manufacturer recommending it.

Japanese and German cars have been recommending brake fluid changes for years.

Especially now with more vehicles that have more complex braking systems because of collision avoidance and adaptive cruise control, there is more expense in the system other than just a master cylinder and brake calipers.

I lied...Guess it's actually 3 years. I changed it a year early. It's only a 30 minute job with my Motive pressure bleeder.

I guess it's time for me to read the owners manual for my truck to see if GM recommends it too.

My Silverado 2500HD says 5 yrs.

"(7) Replace brake fluid every five years. See Brake Fluid pg 387."

I backed mine out of the garage, rolled out my snow blower, then put the truck back in the garage...

Yes brake fluid absorbs water and water doesn't compress in hydraulic systems very well. Many brakes fail because of not bleeding the fluids in master and down to the wheels. I been doing mine every 4 years I will keep it that way but then mine is only a 07.

Corrosion is a huge issue as well. Even with my brake fluid changes I do on all my vehicles, got corrosion in an electric/hydraulic unit on my boat trailer. A $700 failure due to corrosion in the pump.

More storage under the back seat

Installed two plastic storage panels under the rear seat to make storage bins. Uses factory holes. Should be standard. Also showing large storage bin I added a couple months back. It is held in with a single web strap and easily removed to use the large flat rear floor.

My new to me 2011 2500 HD Duramax got an oil, filter and lube, fuel filter, external trany filter, front & rear axle oil chg, transfer case oil chg & a new spare tire hoist. Rotated tires & checked brakes. Also removed, cleaned and installed new exhaust band clamp to fix leak. Should be good to go next month to the COA rally in New Orleans. I now know everything has been done and what oil is in it. 75k miles just broke in

Getting there....!

Lowered the height by 1 7/8" at the tailgate. This is a step toward getting more bed rail-to-overhang clearance.

I removed three shims (per side) from atop the leaf springs, and removed the airbags. I don't need them.

Here's the end result...(my driveway is on an upward angle, not level...)
