Very very nice! I definitely have considered maybe in the future of getting one of those caps for our new 2500 RAM Big Horn.

10 years and 2 weeks old? Are you submitting a warranty claim? Battery should last at least 10 years and 3 weeks...

Good point!
It makes me wonder about all the folks on the F-150 forum that swear you need to disconnect the truck's BMS to keep it from ruining your battery.

Baby got new shoes!

OK, I'm gonna' open myself up here for a bit of ridicule by telling the whole story:

My truck is a 96 Dodge Ram that my father purchased used in the fall of 97 with 43K miles on the odo. Some company had used it hard for a year and a half, then traded it in. Dad only used it to pull his RV until 2005 and in that time I know he bought two new tires for the front because a panic stop put flat spots on them. He got rid of two of the worst tires at that point. I purchased the truck from him in 2005 and I have only used it for pulling my RV, so the truck now has just over 100K miles. In the last 10 years I have put about 6K miles on the truck. I have never replaced a tire.

Because I use the truck so little, I had a hard time convincing myself to spend big $'s on new tires, so I would inspect the tires each year for signs of impending doom. Because it's kept inside out of the sun, the tires didn't show much in the way of weather checking or possible separation and the tread was still good, so I just pushed the limits a bit. Well, this past weekend I was chatting with a friend about this and my wife was listening. My friend flat out told me I was crazy and that's all my wife needed to hear. So now baby's got new shoes...

The tire shop said all the tires were at least 20 years old, and one of them was likely the original spare tire that came on the truck. I was probably pushing things juuuust a bit.

While I was at it, I had the china bombs replaced on my trailer as well. They were probably about four years old and I figured I may as well get that problem taken care of as well.

Anyhoo... I may be crazy, but I guess I'm also lucky!

Traded my 2019 F 250 6.2 in for a 2022 3500 with Duramax. Wife didn’t like the frequency of fuel stops especially with the tight fit a gas pumps pulling 38’ fifth wheel. She didn’t like the 6.6 mpg when the wind kicked in either. I won’t lie not all her my daughter wanted to hit Oregon Washington Yellowstone, and Glacier. I haven’t weighed my new trl yet but it was 1100 pounds heavier dry than my last trl, with that combo I was 380 pounds over GCWR so I could see being 1500 over. Climbing the hills and coming down them in a truck with 80k miles on it. Click image for larger version

When we were towing with the 2500HD, we always seemed to have to plan a fuel stop mid travel to take on fuel every 200-250 miles it seemed. While not completely unpleasant getting into the truck stop fuel (diesel) lanes with the 5er, it was always a bummer as we were making additional stops, which extend our travelling time.

So when we bought the 3500HD, it came with a 36 gallon tank. I had it replaced with a 60 gallon from Titan. I was leery at first about dropping nearly another $1800 bucks to have it done. But it was the best investment on an upgrade that I could have done. Now when towing we don't have to worry about fueling up until after we have disconnected at the campground.

When towing I can travel almost 400 miles and when not towing can get almost 650 miles or better on a tank full. Costly but having the TSD fuel card really helps at most truck stops. I still fuel up at truck stops in truck lanes even when not towing for the discount with the TSD card.

Hope this helps some -

I have Timbrens in mine and I am switching to airbags this year. I am hoping the airbags will take some of the bounce off the camper frame (fifth wheel). Only way I have to test this is to actually do the swap.

What did you do to your tow vehicle today?

Took a road trip very impressed with mileage. First two full disclosure statements. I started with the “free” tank of diesel from dealer and didn’t reset the trip meter until a few miles out of town headed home. I didn’t reset the second trip meter until about 40 miles into this trip. So I wasn’t able to to hand calculate. But full tank refill of 30.3 gallons with trip meter showing 603 would make it pretty close. Was going to attach pics but seems to be a problem. So just a quick data set for the last 865 miles average of 20.2 for the trip took yesterday 538 miles 22.4 . The 865 includes two weeks of work and back a trip to town for 25 bags of concrete last Saturday that I finally unloaded and used this FridayClick image for larger version

What is the added weight? Shipping weight should be a close estimate.
