I have tried internet searches, that's what we have to go on since chevy didn't put it on the door sticker.

That's funny. My 2006 Tahoe does list payload. Perhaps you weren't careful.
The black-and-white sticker on the door edge does not list payload. The black, white, and yellow sticker on the door jamb (frame) lists the payload as 1335 lbs. It says something like weight of passengers and cargo shall not exceed 656 kg or 1335 lbs."
Go back and take another look and let us know what yours says. It is not a "pickup truck only thing."

I’ve towed a Cherokee 23DBH halfway across country with a 2013 Avalanche. White knuckle at times through crosswinds and really struggled up steep grades.
Payload issues aside, had I been a local weekend warrior, I’d have kept my Avalanche without worry. But my family does road trips in the multiple thousands of miles. Upgraded to a 2500 diesel and haven’t looked back!!!
Also in my calculus was actual legality and what the insurance companies would say if something bad were to actually happen...

Yep, quite a few years. I believe the last model year of the 3/4 Avy, was 2005 or 2006.

I had a completely different reaction. $20,000 asking price for a 17 year old 3/4 ton Subaru Brat ... oops, I mean, Chevy Avalanche? Holy crap, that's insane. Sure, it's low miles, but that's a ton of money for a super old rig.

I am guessing the Avalanche body style made it quite a bit heaver than the pickup it is based on. No doubt that added weight cut into the payload the pickup had.

The Avy is not based on any pickup. It's a Suburban with a pickup bed. Same frame, drivetrain and body.
But it is heavier than a comparable Silverado/Sierra because it's based on the SUV platform.

2500 Suburban and Avalanche have leaf springs in the rear. 1500 coils. That one is way over priced, but it is probably one of few 2500s with less than 100K

Great towing vehicle
MY 2006, 2500 Avalanche makes a great TV for my 2304KS. With only 42K miles on the Avalanche, I have a lot of miles to look forward too.

You do know that the UVW of your trailer, already exceeds the max of the Avalanche 1500, before anything is loaded in it.
The loaded tongue weight will likely be over specs also.

9,000 lb + and 37' long with a 2006 1/2 ton. Seems reasonable.

We don't travel very far. Just to our local lake. Husband keeps the Avalanche around 60 mph & it works just fine.

It's a 1/2 SUV, not a pickup. So it's heavier, softer suspension and lower towing and payload capacity numbers.
