I have used the Equalizer E-4 and did not like the noise so I went to the Pro-pride and I have had some issues with the weight distribution jacks and I can not get the squat out of the rear of the truck. I just added air bags to the truck to help with that. I don't think the Pro-pride is worth the money but that is my opinion, and I know I might be the only one that has a Pro-pride and don't like it.

Pretty common occurrence for the jacks to have issues when trying to distribute heavy tongue weight. I built some brackets to allow the U-bolt to pull down on the jack on the inside and have had no issues since. I'll try to get some pics. PP should come up with some brackets to include that would alleviate this issue. The ones they supply wouldn't work for me. I have access to torches, welders, grinders etc. and could therefore fab mine up- would be an issue for most, though. I think 2 small brackets/shims would change your mind about the 3P.

Yes, please post or send me some pictures of what you have done, I have a welder so I can fab something up if I need to. Thanks.

Basically an "L" shaped bracket that cradles the frame with a small piece of square tubing on the bottom inside. This gives the U-bolt something to pull against rather than deform and gives your set bolt a thicker plate to push against keeping it from pressing into or deforming the a frame tubing.Click image for larger version

We just installed the Husky Centerline TS #32218 ,800-1200 TW,12,000 Max Trailer. It's a new hitch for Husky and looks like they have attempted to copy the Equalizer, they claim much quieter than the others .
Since i installed it on my , not so flat, grassy back yard, and drove it up to the nearest shopping center with a flat paved parking lot, to check the measurement ( which all came out great ) the trip envolved a dozen or so 90 degree turns, and quiet, no groans, pops or bangs. No comments yet on the Anti-Sway yet.

Will say this thing is built like a Hoss, no skimps on solid steel !!!!

what about the Fastway E2? Just ordered one with my Apex. Looks like an E4 type product.

Not the same animal. Only 2 points of friction- at the brackets- none in the hitch head. Also, I don't think it's made in the US like the 4 point is.

Re the equalizer hitches and noise. I was given a tube of grease to use with the bars etc. I find that if I clean grit off and reapply grease on the rub points there is little to no noise.

Always thought the friction points ,The triuions sockets at the head, and friction points on the lift arms, are key to sway control. My new hitch quickly wore off the powder coating between the spring arms and lift bracket, which i expected. My concern now is the rusting that,s going to acure on the lift bracket, since it's now bare steel.
Called Husky ( Great Service ) and was told just to put a little grease to prevent the rusting, and it would not effect the anti sway. Well, i'm a hardhead, so will grease the arms to prevent rust, but, will remove it with brake cleaner before we tow.
Must say, have not had the hitch out on RT. 95 yet to say anything about it's anti-sway, so i touch " Nothing " untill a good test. !!

Also I agree that you'll be very disappointed with a Ram 1500 pulling/carrying that big of a trailer. Mine only weighed 7k and I took a huge hit on selling my 2013 Ram 1500 so I could get into a 3/4 ton. I happened to also move from gas to diesel at the same time and love it, but diesel may not be necessary depending on your personal driving plans/preferences.

Good luck!

Brian

I use the equalizer, I was just told to use the hitch as normal, paint will come off and there maybe some surface rust. They said at the end of the season clean up the brackets and arms and repaint them once a year. This is also what the manual stated. I just do this and dont worry about the imperfections and scrapes.

pretty sure this was meant for Rideandslide since he post a pic but I have a 1500 Ram and it pulled my 09 Springdale with ease. I may be going longer with my apex purchase but for me i'm lighter in weight. I'm very pleased myself with what a Ram can do, other than the crappy coil springs... but I fixed those as well

Nope- Don't think intended for me ! 2013 Ram !500 5.7, Air Lift 1000 Air Bags, Hushy Centerline TS Hitch and Grey Wolf 26RL 5700# Dry. Truck pull all great, the bags where a great addition and would recommend to anyone with a Dodge !500 . Hitch is new, impressed so far, but final judgement still out .

Many opinions on hitches, just like trucks. If you don't want to spend $2000, I have an Equalizer 4 point listed in the classified section if you are interested and not too far away. It is a 12000/1200 and is one year old. Pick up only or meet somewhere as it is to cost prohibitive to ship.

My new truck will also be my daily driver, I would only be pulling my trailer once a month for a long weekend somewhere in state.
