I emailed Andersen to clarify reversing the pyramid used for the gooseneck Andersen Ultimate and received this response:

"No you cannot use the hitch it the reverse position. Now the coupler block
that connects the hitch to you trailer can be used in the reverse position.

- thank you for contacting Andersen Hitches.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have further questions.

I went back in this thread and post #23 with etrailer answer seems to vaguely indicate the rail version so that very well may be the difference that would allow reversing the pyramid mount in the bed.

I have the Andersen in a 2015 2500HD crew cab. Andersen gave me ideas on how to set mine up after I damaged my bed rail and a few tight turns. Anyone have pictures of how they have theirs set up? Like which way the pin piece is set on and any other tips. I will not be adjusting mine until spring since it's so darn cold here right now.

We have a Reese 16000 slider. VERY easy to use to hook up and unhitch. It makes maneuvering MUCH easier when backing into a spot (which all Louisiana State Parks require).

If you have a 6.5' bed it keeps the camper from hitting your cab in a tight backing turn as well.

thanks everyone for all the input. my choice would be an andersen ina second but since going down to the dealer to look at bed height and king pin height it looks like the andersen and a slider is out of the question.

I have 12.5" between bed height and kign pin with a max of 2" of height adjustment on the king pin but I don't think there is that much. so a fixed hitch with or with out the revolution I think will be my only options.

I have to go back down tomorrow so they can drop a hitch in the back of my truck and drop one of the 2 5er's I am looking at on it and see if it can levelled out with adjustments. might be no deal.

We have a 2008 Silverado 2500HD Duramax with "standard bed" 6' 6" towing a 2016 Cardinal 3250 fifth wheel. PulRite slider hitch has performed flawlessly. We often back into some very tight campsites, as well as our own driveway , and the slider is essential for our needs.

I already have fith wheel rails in my truck, so which one would be better kurt slidder or huskey roller? I did look at the anderen and i did like that setup but not wanting to remove what i already bought and replace with a ball.

Husky 16 k w with roller or curt q16 with slider?

My rv dealer is a husky dealer. And wants to sell me one but I like the curt better. There is a 200 dollar difference between the 2. Both hitches include install. My other option is to get an under mount gooseneck hitch and an Anderson ultimate. Which i would have to install.

Not sure what to do

Thoughts ?
they should both fit the universal rails and do the job. Id look at both and decide if I wanted to pay the extra for the Husky

The Andersen is available in a rail mount setup as well. That's what I have, and have been very happy with it.

I bought a Pullright slider for my short bed Ford,, Decided to get a Long bed Dually , didnt want to buy new hitch so they transfered my slider to my new truck. So I am probably one of the few people who have a long bed with a slider. Havent had a chance to really test it out other than just give it a test drive around the block with the 5th wheel (just got it the other day). Everybody talks about 90 Degree turns,, maybe i can do about 120...
Just kidding,,but i will keep it a while ,,see if its worth keeping or not.

I have the Reese titan 16k fixed mount in my 2012 RAM3500 Cummins srw with ram box. Also the Reese fifth airborne elite pulling a 36 foot Wildcat 317rl. So far works flawlessly and you can't beat the air ride and almost no chucking noise.

So what did your measurements end up being and what hitch met those requirements. I've been wondering about your post and just can't totally understand why the Andersen Ultimate didn't or wouldn't meet the same ones.

I ended up getting a husky 16kw slider. Lowest setting is 14.5". The Andersons lowest setting is 17". Way to high for the 5th wheel I purchased. As it stands now the king pin will be at the top position and the hitch will be at its lowest. I can't remember exact height of truck but it will be close. I bought a mid profile half ton towable 5th wheel so they say. My truck is a 3/4 ton. I pick the trailer up on the 24th. I can post how it all works out after that.

Make sure to take pictures and post when you bring it home. BTW as long as you have a minimum of 5" (6" is better) between the top of your bed rail and the 5er overhang, and the rig sits level you'll have a great setup. You can have more than 6" of course to make the rig sit level but this should be the minimum to prevent banging the overhang onto the bed rail when you go in or out of fuel stations that aren't level with the street, for example.

I have the pull rite superlite and i like it i did have a pullrite super glide and i had to have a
hoist to remove it from my truck then went to a 1 ton with an 8' bed so i don't need a slider and want to go to a lighter hitch the super lite weighs in around 56 pounds and works like a champ i like it it is very easy to hitch up and use the one thing is you do have to raise the 5ver to get the ball to clear the cup but works great

Here it is hitched and ready to go. King pin is at its highest point against the top of the trailer and hitch is at its lowest point. Hitch sits 14.5" from the bed. Lots of clearance between the bottom of the trailer and the box of the truck.

Thank you ! Niagara trailers. They have treated me really well. They had the truck in the tightest turns possible with the slider hitch back and forward in towing position. I technically don't need a slider but if I get a site that isn't flat I might need the slider
