I love my Silverado 3500 and at 130,000 have had zero problems with the engine or transmission. I have had more than my share of def problems. But the engine and transmission are awesome. Pulls my Cedar Creek like it’s not even hooked up

I had a 2006 2500HD that I bought new with the 6.0 gasser I liked the truck a lot but though the 6.0 was weak in the Sierras and Rocky mountains and I was lucky to get 7-8MPG on flat ground.

I had zero issues with it Until one day we were at our local Sam's Club in Chino, CA I parked the truck on a busy Saturday we ran into the Walmart next to the Sam's Club came out 30min later and the truck was gone it was never recovered.

My first choice was trying to make a deal on a new 2500HD with the Duramax but it just wasn't met to be so I stopped by a local RAM dealer and got a great deal on a leftover 2015 2500 with the Cummins that motor is a beast compared to the old 6.0 that was in the Chevy I'm sure the Duramax would have been the same way.

I have a 2013 1500 with the max tow package. Looked long and hard to find this truck as I wanted the 6.2L and an ext. cab. I worked on the design of this truck at GM and wanted the last model year as I knew the bugs were all worked out. The only thing we do not like is the cloth seats. It only has 20k miles on it as I only use it for my tow vehicle. My dream truck now is a 3500 dbl cab SRW diesel High Country. Can't imagine ever needing more truck. But we are looking at Cedar Creek 5ver's now. I drive by the truck plant in Flint everyday and see all the new trucks sitting out waiting to be delivered. Makes me wish I could just walk in and pick one out for a retirement gift.

I put a set of these in my previous truck to cover the cloth seats. They fit so well nobody knew they were covers unless I told them so!

I thought about starting one of these for Ram/Dodge, but the internet doesn't have enough storage for us Dodge/Ram/Fiat owners(notice I put that in there for you).

I now work at FCA and still drive a Silverado. Helped design the electrical system for the 2019 Ram. Still won't own one.

For What It's Worth...
I believe your truck is in the group with the "pump rub" transfer case problem. In all likelihood, noting the miles on yours, it has been addressed. If not, you should get it taken care of soon.
I am the new owner of a 2001 Silverado (8.1 gas) that had a transfer case that had not been repaired yet. Luckily it only has 88K miles and the defect had not yet surfaced. Cost me $350 to fix and well worth it.
Happy Camping to you sir.

I did look at those seat covers. May get some soon. Dog hair is the worst on these cloth seats

We bought our 1998 Silverado used in 2001, loved it , pulled a 24ft TT , retired moved and sold the TT because we couldn’t afford to travel, fast forward to 2017 still love the Silverado now it’s got 240,000 miles still runs good except under a load, so now we can travel but the truck won’t pull a TT and can’t afford a newer one,so $5,000 dollars later we have a Re manufactured 5.7 and a Wolf Pup and love both and can travel at will, And the German Shepherd loves them as well!😁

Such a pain and shame. RAM is pretty good though, just not as pretty.

What you didn't get with the Ram is the Allison transmission. That is the TRUE secret to the success of the Duramax/Allison pulling combination!

I kinda "inherited" our 2015 Silverado. I co-signed for my son to get this PU to haul trailers as a business. (from FR no less) He passed away after the first year he had it. His wife couldn't afford the payments plus didn't have a use for it. I took it and we have enjoyed it's beauty and power.

It is a Silverado, Z71,Duramax, Allison trans, 4wd, SRT, CC with almost everything you can get on it. Plus airbags with compressor and turn over ball B&W gooseneck hitch. We've had it two and half years now and have put almost 50K on it since the son passed, now it has 128K.

It pulls our T28FQDX Shockwave fully loaded, PU and trailer grossing 21K with ease. Can't complain about torque. We have hills all around us that run between 5 and 7% grades and it doesn't complain about any of them. That's where the exhaust brake really pays off also.

We had a problem of decreased power, figured out it was the DPF was plugged so we did a delete with tuner. Now there is a problem of it spinning side ways if I get on it a little too much. Really do have to watch it on wet roads. There's not much to not like about it.

Im VERY sorry to hear about your son. He selected a wonderful truck and I am sure he is happy to know his beloved truck has such a loving home.

Go to duramaxforum.com, sign up as a member, fill out your signature describing what vehicle you have, do an Introduction post and then do a search for whatever you want to know about your vehicle.

If you have questions after that ask them. Thee are men on that forum with an encyclopedic knowledge of that vehicle and they are VERY willing to share their knowledge.

You WILL require a tune though to keep the truck from going into Limp Mode after you delete.

2016 Silverado 2500 Duramax pulling a 10K pound toy hauler. Been around the country several times already, and about 18K+ miles pulling the trailer so far. Love it. Trailer was weighing around 9K pounds and the truck was able to pull it up the Ike at any speed I wanted. Even was accelerating at a good clip when I needed to pass.

Buddy of mine has a 2006 2500 Duramax. Had the injectors replaced when new under the service bulletin for free, and with 350K+ miles on it now, only normal maintenance has been needed.

I love my Silverado most of the time. I say that because every time the temperatures get below 25* the blower for the heater doesn't run. When it's above freezing the fan run fine. Shop says if it's working when I take it in it does no good to troubleshoot. I know Chevy/GMC has a problem with the resistor speed control, but my question is why does it work 90% of the time. If I put it in the un-heated garage and drove it everyday it works. Go figure. No room in garage for it at this time.
