Will this work?

I hit a high water crossing a while back and drug/tore my factory trailer wire connector from my truck so yesterday I ended up replacing it with a whole new setup. The factory replacement was $200+, this one....$30, but it uses a different mount for the connector. Factory used a tab that was welded onto the frame just left of the safety chain point but with the new setup it uses a 90 degree bent piece with vertical mounting holes instead of the horizontal mounting holes used by the factory welded on tab. With the factory tab remaining on the frame I would not have the clearance to mount the connection behind it and still be able to fully open the lid on the connector so I moved it to the bottom of the bumper instead which is about 8 inches or so farther from the hitch. This pushed the connector roughly 14 1/2 inches from center line of the connector to centerline of the hitch but it was as close as I could get it without cutting off the factory tab and drilling into the hitch. If this looks too far for turns I will probably just weld a 90 degree tab onto the bottom of the factory tab and mount it there instead. What do you think?

The only issue will be the length of your trailers umbilical cord. Provided it's long enough, you should be OK.

Mine's pretty long; I wrap a bungee cord around it and the spring bar of my WDH to keep it from dragging.
