Art and Wine Fest

We’re heading over to the Dam West Campground at Carlyle Lake this weekend for the Art and Wine Festival. This is a very popular event so we had to make our reservations very early. At the time we booked our site we weren’t even sure which weekend the festival would take place on so we reserved our site through next weekend. I guess we’ll have to have our own art and wine fest for the remainder of the time. For me personally, art always looks better after a little wine.

Last year we waited too long before trying to book a site and we missed out. Here’s a picture of a sand sculpture at the festival from two years ago. In case you’re wondering, they’re happy wine grapes.

Yes, it's about 50 miles east of downtown St. Louis, MO. It's probably my favorite local campground. It's a COE park that has some full hookups and offers good spacing between most of the sites. It's perfect for an outdoor experience and yet, with the town of Carlyle so close, shopping and restaurants are close by.

It would be great to have other FRF members at Carlyle. I'm sure we will be doing this again next year so when I make reservations I'll be sure to post something. Perhaps we could get others to join in too. Dam West is one of the more popular campgrounds in the region so I always recommend reserving a site through recreation.gov.

You betcha! It does require getting a reservation well in advance though. The campground is always popular, but even more so during the Art and Wine Festival.

I'll be sure to post next spring when I make reservations for the Art and Wine Fest. It would be great if we could get a group from FRF for a get together. My wife and I love sharing a campfire with other RVers.

Somebody say "homebrew"? Count me in! I'll even brew up a keg for occasion. About 300 mile for me also.

LOL, well I’m not much of a planner. Sometime during the year the Art and Wine Festival at Carlyle Lake was cancelled. While it is a bit disappointing, what the heck, we’re still camping. We brought wine and beer with us so maybe later today we will go to Walmart and buy a finger paint set and sidewalk chalk and have our own art and wine fest.
