Camping along Gulf Coast

Hi All, Can anyone recommend a good campground along the Mississippi or Alabama coast either on the ocean or very close? Just looking for a quiet scenic place with a little space between campers. Plan on going sometime in December. Thanks.

We like to spend a week after Christmas at Dauphin Island. You can walk 100 yards down the trail to the Gulf. The campground is run by the city. Old but kept up. Basically a really nice fish camp. We enjoy the company of the people there. Quiet, peaceful.

Alabama has just completely rebuilt Gulf State park from hurricane damage, reported to be very nice. Never been there, but rumors are rampant that it's awesome.

And there are hundreds of small Mom 'n' Pop campgrounds as well.

Sorry there are no sites along the Alabama or Mississippi coast with ocean views or even within driving distance! :-D Sorry Couldn't resist!

Gulf State park and Dauphin Island are both good places to stay. I prefer Gulf State Park if we're just going to camp and shop, but if we take the boat I prefer Dauphin Island because fishing is better and more abundant on that side. I can be to Dixie Bar in about 5 mins from the launch.
