Camping in Texas

Looking to camp in TX between Austin and Katy. We have family in both cities and just looking to park the rig one time. Not necessary to split the distance exactly :-). Will be there 9/27 - 10/1.

Traveling down from Denver and already planning a couple days at Palo Duro SP.

Any suggestions? We like state parks but willing to consider private as well. Want to have electric hook-up (30A), water is nice but not required, dump station nearby is fine. Just a 20ft. travel trailer so we can get in most places.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

We have camped at lake Somerville, Birch Creek Area. Nice quiet park.
Hint: if you are planning to camp Texas State parks consider buying the parks pass. Each park has an entrance fee per person per day on top of the camping fee. With the pass second night is also half price. We were money ahead after our second park stay.

Happy Camping

I agree with the park pass I usually stay west or north of Austin. We stay in as many Texas state parks as possible I think we’re up to 12 plus. So many more to go too now that we a shorter be easier. I will say check online I wouldn’t be surprised if most are booked solid this time of year

Pedernales Falls and Guadalupe River State Parks are my favorites. The Hill Country is beautiful during what passes for fall in Texas.

If you want to be closer to Katy and still have reasonably pretty scenery, try Buescher State Park.
