Headed to Florida from Arkansas for Christmas

We are going to Florida for Christmas traveling from Arkansas. Does anyone know if the Wal-Mart in Vicksburg Mississippi or Jackson Mississippi allows overnight parking?

Check this guy’s lists. He maintains them by reports on a special Yahoo group where people report when they have stayed at Walmarts (or called and were denied).

Actually, the easiest method is to just call the store. Just ask if they allow “RVs to park overnight?”

According to Allstays, the Vicksburg one is hit or miss depending on who you talk to.

The Jackson one had more reports of OK to park but if you show up at 7:30am, security is on you pretty quick.

Where in Florida are you headed? We leave New Orleans tomorrow to make a 3-part drive to the Fort Myers area by Sunday.

Perdido Key is a beautiful area, one of our favorites.

Have fun! The panhandle isn't warm enough for my thin skin.

We leave 27th for Orange Beach. I won't go 49/98 again! Ouch. I'm going through Starkville, overnight at KOA there, and stay on interstates until MS 82, then US 45 down.

According to RV Parky Vicksburg Walmart has pretty good reviews but the one in Vicksburg does not, especially recently as August this year.

Rivertown Campground in Vicksburg is great for one night stop over, and less than $30.00 IIRC.

We just ran up and down 45 a few weeks ago, and have done it many times, it is my preferred route to get down to Orange Beach / Pensacola when pulling the rv. Light traffic, divided highway and minimal tractor trailers compared to I -55.

We usually hit Tombigbee State Park out of Tupelo for our first night's stop, then make it to the Gulf the following day.

Not sure about your route, but there is a very nice visitors center at the Stennis Space Center Exit on I-10. If you pull in after hours, Security will escort you to the south side of the center where there are RV sites available for overnight parking at no charge. No hookups, but the pullouts are off the drive road and you can put out the slides, etc. Safe, secure and clean. Much better than a Walmart lot.

That is a nice place, just east of Slidell, LA.
