Help with campgrounds in Michigan and beyond

In need of recommendations for public campgrounds as we travel thru Michigan to UP and west to Montana. We like scenic, spacious, woods and water. Dont need alot of amenities and since it will be a nt here and a nt there, electricity is not necessary. We like National Forests and Parks. We are leaving in 2 weeks

Not sure if I am too late on the post but we love Rollaways Campground in the Huron National forest near Glennie.... all nicely spaced out, all pull through... it is dry camping though. Also, Lumberman's Monument campground very near there. Pine Point Campground near Fremont is also another favorite...not too far from Muskegon. Cheyboyagon State Park near the top of the state is nice too.

Michigan is a Big State with Lots of State and Federal Forests and Lots of Lakes! If you could maybe give a Hint to the Roadway's you might be taking would help in the Fine Tune of Camp grounds! Youroo!!

So we stayed at 2 different campgrounds in the UP. Bay View, a NF campground with sites on Lake Superior but no hookups-fantastic. And Lake Gogebic State Park with electric right on the lake, another good one. My favorite so far is Two Lakes campground in NF near Drummond Wi. Pristine lakes and spacious and private lakefront sites. Love the haunting sounds of the loons.
