Hot Springs vs Eureka Springs, Ar
Want opinions on which you like the bestand what to do, as we want to go to one in September and would like your ideas and on what state or rv parks you like.
Thanks

Here is a previous thread on Hot Springs that may help:

Both are nice, but more to do around Eureka Springs which is also close to Branson and Silver Dollar City.

For the Eureka Springs area I like to stay at Withrow Springs state park. For Hot Springs I like either Lake Catherine or Lake Ouachita. Both locations have interesting things to do but they are both nice areas.

Also, one substantial difference is that the forest types around the areas are different. Hot Springs has more pine while Eureka Springs has more hardwood (Oak, hickory, etc). My preference is the northern part of the state, but many people like Hot Springs. Depending on where you are in Missouri, Eureka Springs may be a lot like home.

If you go to Eureka Springs make sure you see Saunders gun museum outside ES it is very cool. I was there 15+ years and would go in a minute. Lots of cool stuff besides guns.

HS has a lot of water around it with Lake Ouachita and the other "Diamond lakes" nearby, along with bathhouse row and the NP. There's also the horse track and Little Rock isn't too far away, nor Mt Magazine or Petit Jean SP. If I'm staying in HS proper I like Gulpha Gorge CG (no reservations) or Lake Ouachita SP (better book now for Sept--i tried for labor day and no spots available). I've also stayed at the KOA, which is really nice.
In ES we stayed at Wanderlust RV park which is a Good Sam 10- star park. Clean. Withrow Springs SP is pretty for a more rustic experience, but I found the drive from ES a bit too far for frequent trips. There's also lots of water nearby with Beaver and Bull Shoals and great trout fishing on the White River. Don't get me wrong --i love HS, but ES is quite a bit more charming and quaint. I get the impression that it's what HS would have remained if it hadn't gotten so big and popular.
I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. They're both great destinations. As long as you're willing to drive 30 mins to an hour, you can easily spend a week in each town and not run out of interesting things to see/ do.

Since I live in Hot Springs, my point of view may be skewed, but I believe either city would be a toss up. In Eureka Springs, you're closer to the NW corner of AR, where the attractions are to numerous to list. Hot Springs has a certain draw, from the history downtown to the lakes. As far as a place to camp, in Hot Springs, Lake Catherine State Park would be my first choice. Easy ride into town. Clean, well kept park, that by then should be thinning out some. A close second would be Catherine's Landing. Another park that's not mentioned a lot, but nice in its own right is Leisure Landing. A smaller park on the south side of town. Still very close to the attractions down town and the many restaurants in town.

If going to Eureka Springs another cool place to stay is Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge
They are a rescue shelter for exotic cats..... think lions and tigers. It is pretty cool to hear them call to each other at night. Also have had deer come up while eating dinner and take food out of your hand. LOL
They do have RV sites there .
