Lakeside 370 Campground closed

Due to flooding of the Mississippi River, Lakeside 370 campground located in St Peters Missouri is under water and was closed indefinitely.
Lakeside 370 is just a short ways off of Highway 70 and a great place to stay while visiting the St. Louis area. It is hoped the damage can be repaired as soon as the water level drops and campers can again enjoy the area.
There were several pictures on the news of the campgrounds showing a pavilion with just the roof sticking out of the water.

Yes it was a really nice park. We stay there every year to visit family just down the road in St. Charles. We wish them the best of luck in getting things cleaned up and fixed when the water goes down. There is lots of bad flooding in the area from both the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

Lakeside 370 Campground closed

I live just down the road from 370, it’s pretty much filled to the brim. We got hit in early May....then back down and then way up to the current stage. 2’ from the record flood. Flew over the park a few weeks ago, arrow represents the road over and into the park, circle is the pavilion roof. Park was designed to handle flooding so it should be operational within a few months of the water evacuating.Click image for larger version

My mini lite is living in my driveway right now because my storage lot was across 370 from the park.

They did a good job designing the park with the knowledge that it will flood. The "office" and concession stand were trailers so they can get them out when the water comes up.

I was by Lakeside 370 yesterday and it is still underwater. It looks like it will be sometime before water will go down to where the campground will be above water. Two storage lots close to Lakeside are still completely underwater. Our RV is parked about 2 miles from there on the same side of Highway 370 as the campground and water was not even close to us.

Don't expect it to open anytime soon. A few of our local campgrounds along the Missouri River here in Nebraska have been under water since March. The river up here is still right around flood stage and the Dam at Gavins Point in SD is still releasing around 75,000 GPM. so the level is going to stay high for awhile.

The issue isn't the rate the water is going down, the issue is going to be all the water that seeped through the levee and is now on the wrong side. They're going to have to pump it out and let it evaporate.
