Near NO LA CGs

Looking to make a big detour on our way home to NC from FL around mid-March. Would like to find a nice CG near New Orleans ~~ maybe an hour away. Looking for FU and preferably a pull through for a 35' 5er. Who has a favorite in the area?

IMHO, Bayou Segnette State park in Westwego, LA is really nice, though it's all back in and no sewer. (Most are large and angled so it's not too bad.)

We also liked Buccaneer State park in Waveland, MS. Though, again, I think they're all back in. Full hook with sewer at all sites. (But if you stay towards the back of the park there is a train track that reminded me of the flophouse scene in Blues Brothers.)

Waveland sounds interesting, thanks. Two weeks w/o sewer and with wife will not work well. Trains seem to run near many CGs and do not bother us after all these years. When closed for the night they are hardly noticed anyway. Stayed once near tracks that the whistle went off every 90 minutes ~~ that one was noticed.

We liked it a lot. We found out that the tracks are quite elevated on the way our GPS brought us in. We didn't drag, but it was sketchy. That can be avoided by going in like you're going to the silver slipper casino and turning left on the frontage road from the West, or, I think taking Nicholson Ave coming in from the east. Google maps streetview will show the area as well I think.
