New Orleans: Your RV Resort recommendations
We're heading to New Orleans for Feb 1st and looking for recommendations on RV Resorts & campgrounds.
Which ones manage to not flood during heavy rains and are within an hour or two of New Orleans?
My wife will be going on a Carribean cruise with 5 of her aunts and cousins while I will spend my time cruising around on my Harley.

If you want one able to walk to and through the French Quarter, the French Quarter RV is excellent.

We spent a few days at the French Quarter RV and it was perfect for going back and forth to the French Quarter. We road bicycles around on city bike paths easily accessible from there. A little pricey but it was a great place to stay.

We wanted to stay at Bayou Segnette but couldn't stay for 3 weeks like we wanted.
I couldn't afford the French Quarter RV park for that length of time.
Instead, we found the KOA to be priced sort of in the higher end of the middle. Decent place, easy to park in, friendly staff, and a shuttle bus to the FQ.
Ironically, we cut the stay down to just 3 nights at the last minute. Go figure!

Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS. It's about an hour from New Orleans, right on the beach, has full hooks, and it very reasonably priced. It's my go to park.

I am at Reunion Lake RV Park now. There is an open space next to me.

Not expensive.........safe part of town, in the city of Westwego on the West Bank

When I was in New Orleans last (2018), stayed at Pontchartrain Landing on France Road. A Marina was next to campground and a bus that ran round trip to the French Quarter.

As someone who lives in the area, all are good choices. Buccaneer State Park doesn't have a bad spot in there, but they have these small lil gnats that must be all teeth! No matter when we go, where we stay, we can's escape 'em.

Stayed at Pontchartrain Landing on France road over New Years. Its also a marina and close to interstate 10. About 12 minutes from French Quarter. They provide a shuttle to the french quarter for a small charge round trip. Uber is about $12 one way during standard rate times.
The rates nearly double during a "special event." Staff and facilities are very nice. Good on site restaurant and bar, laundry, etc...
We walked by the RV park on the edge of the French quarter another post talks about. It's very convenient to all the happenings. Didn't stay there so cant speak to the campground amenities.
It was our first time to NOLA and had a great time. We will certainly get back this fall and keep in mind the recommendations in this thread.

In addition to Bayou Segnette we have also stayed in Fontainebleau State Park as well as Fairview Riverside State Park in St Tammany Parish.
The latter two are on the N Shore of Lake Pontchartrain. They require you to drive across the Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge (the longest single bridge in the world at 23.82 miles) to reach New Orleans and back.
We have stayed at all three, live within a 3 hour drive and choose Bayou Segnette State Park as our favorite (Go To) location. We wee last there over the Christmas Holidays.

Fairview Riverside State Park in St Tammany Parish is not big rig friendly.
