Oklahoma/Arkansas Fall Foliage

We are thinking of a fairly short trip to see the fall foliage.

We’re DFW based so we were thinking eastern Oklahoma and/or western Arkansas. Maybe a loop including both.

Looking for suggestions on best dates and if this is a good idea. If it is where are some of the must see’s and some of the must do’s.

Because of time constraints probably no farther east than Little Rock and no farther north than Springfield/Joplin.

Thanks

I would at least take AR Hwy 7 north from Russellville as far north as possible. Winding and hilly but has some nice colors. Many other state highways you can take. Cant help with OK.

From where you are maybe reverse the run we made a couple of years ago . . . A "must" stop is Beaver's Bend State Park just off US 259 in SE Oklahoma. Gorgeous any time of year. Head northward on 259 on fun to drive winding roads and modest grades (7% or so) to I-40 eastbound to Ft. Smith, AR. Then northbound on I-49. If you are fortunate to have made reservations early, stay in Devil's Den State Park in the western Ozarks. But enter through the northern entrance due to much more "rv-friendly" roads. From there work your way up to the Eureka Springs area. And you then still have the opportunity to jump over into Missouri.
