Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore - Up. Mich

Anyone have suggestions for campgrounds with electric service near Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Upper Michigan? We're planning a trip up to the U.P. With a few days in the Porcupine Mtns and a few near Pictured Rocks for some kayaking.

We found Union Bay campground at the Porcupine Mtns with electricity and sites right on Lake Superior, but having difficulty finding a place to stay near Pictured Rocks.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try the Munising City Park. Right on the lake.

Munising Tourist Park is where we are staying next summer. We have never been but looking forward to heading to the UP. Reservations opened up 10/1 for 2017. So you may not want to wait too long depending on when you are going.

Why not use the "East Gateway to Pictured Rocks Lakeshore"? This would be Woodland Park Campground, located in Grand Marais,Mi. Right on Lake Superior, easy walk to Downtown! Youroo!!

Munising Tourist Park right on the lake is near the Pictured Rocks tour boats. From there you could go to Grand Marais and Woodland Park Campground, also on the shore of Lake Superior. They both have hookups and lots to do in the immediate area. The nice thing are the short driving distances of less than 100 miles (but then, I live in Texas and 60 mile round trip commutes are common).

Agree with the Munising Tourist park! Great 'base location' for a LOT of the eastern UP! Try the whitefish @ Sydneys & Foggies!! Take BOTH the pictured rocks & shipwreck tours! Excellent time there! Love it there AFTER labor day when fall is just starting in and can SOMETIMES catch prime time with the leaves changing.

We stayed two nights at Munising Tourist Park in July 2016. We had a site right on the water with electric, sewer and water hookups. I can't remember if all the sites were like that. Something tells me they were not. We did some hiking in the National Lakeshore park - quite a few waterfalls. Kayaking information is available at the Visitors Centers, although we did not bring our kayak (2 seater, sea kayak) this trip. Instead we took the sunset cruise - beautiful in that kind of light! Muldoons in Munising is a great place for pasties by the way.

Woodland Park Campground

We have stayed at Woodland Park Campground in Grand Marais. They don't take reservations, but nice campground right on Lake Superior.

Stayed at Woodland Park Campground in Grand Marais some time ago. Others say it is still a nice CG. The city of Grand Marais is also a destination in itself with nice restraunts.

Munising Tourist Park Campground will be open no later than May 15 and closed no sooner than October 10th. Please call 906-387-3145 or 906-202-2694 for exact opening and closing dates, Which may vary depending on the weather.

Wandering Wheels Campground. We love it there. Sites are in the woods and spacious.

Great! I'll check them out. Thanks for the help! We didn't get out much this summer, so we're trying to get out ahead for 2017 and take two good long trips.

We stayed 2 nights at the Munising City Park in May while wandering to Alaska. Our site put us 40 feet from the water. Fire pit and all hookups! It is a pretty place to base while playing tourist. As stated, you are not far from everything there.

Grand Marais would be my recommendation also. It's a park with a great view.
