I am sure you will get lots of answers. We have stayed several times at Admiralty RV resort. Paved roads and cement pads. There is also a nice size dog run plus a laundry area. It is very close to Sea World and convenient to Lackland Air Force Base. Short hop to 410 and 90 and you are downtown where the Alamo is located. Some very good restaurants in the area as well.

It is in a nice neighborhood and the park is very well maintained.

Here is the link to their web site: https://www.admiraltyrvresort.com/

Boy have you been busy asking for campground suggestions.

San Antonio is a great city.
You have to check out the Alamo.
I usually stay on the north side because that is close to I-10 to Arizona.
I think you are heading to Southern California so I suspect you want I-10

I have not stayed there other than Lackland AFB because I'm retired military.
Others may have to suggest campgrounds.

We stayed with friends up in the hill country of Texas when we visited San Antonio. The River Walk takes you near the Alamo and the San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral. I believe the cathedral contains the remains of the defenders of the Alamo. There is the Mission San Jose on the southern edge of San Antonio which demonstrates the early missions of the south west. You may want to consider a bus/trolley tour to make your visit easier.

We were in San Antonio this spring. We were very happy with this campground. Not too far from everything and didn't feel like you were in the city. Beautiful pool area. It was pretty quiet and the staff was very friendly.

X2 on the KOA. Won best KOA a few years back. Good location, nice park, friendly staff, and the chuck wagon breakfast there is really good.

While in SA, lots to do. If you have never been, of course Alamo and Riverwalk is a must. The SA Zoo is good, and try to make lunch at the Tower Restaurant. Beautiful view of the entire city as the restaurant rotates. We love San Antonio and this is one of the best times of year to go.

There is an rv park called "Riverwalk RV Park" that we were lead to believe was near the riverwalk. Beware, it is not near the riverwalk and is more of a trailer park with a few rv sites. I would not stay there again.

Stayed at Blazing Star Luxury RV Resort on 1604 off of I-10.

You are only a few minutes from Sea World, half hour or so from the Alamo.

About 1/2 hour from Lackland AFB, the Bass pro on I-10 is worth a walk thru.

There is a Walmart, Kohl's, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, Whataburger and a whole host of other restaurants very close.

Traveler's RV Resort is three miles from tourist sites, i.e. Riverwalk, Alamo, etc. Very nice park and a bus stops in front of campground for ride to tourist area. Leave RV and vehicles at campground.

I second Traveler's World. Close to the River and downtown. Lots of restaurants and shopping near by.

We go to San Antonio quite a few times every year. We've stayed at Admirality a couple of times when we couldn't get into Traveler's World. Admirality is a nice park but a little further out from the city. If a gigantic pool is what you need Admirality is for you. Sites are a little close together for my taste.

Traveler's World has friendlier management in my opinion. Not that I've had trouble at Admirality, but the last time we were there, about 3 months ago I witnessed the manager in some very unprofessional behavior. Like I said, it wasn't directed to me, I don't know exactly what happened, but her professionalism was not present. I would not like to be involved in a misunderstanding with her. The bath house/restrooms on the side of the park we stayed in at Admirality was abysmal. Smell, cleanliness and state of construction inside needed help. The one one up front was always clean.

We've stayed a couple of times at the Passport America park
called Braunig Lake RV Resort. Nice CG. Nothing exceptional
but nice & we would go there again. Just south of San Antonio
just beside the I-37. Good price too.

Take a water taxi ride on the riverwalk.

x 3 on the KOA. Been there twice, good experience both times, and we travel with dogs. Besides the River Walk and obvious associated touristy things, check out all the missions - I think there are 5 and each has something interesting to see. Also the Buckhorn? Bar. It's been a while guys, so forgive me.

I recommend:
1. Institute of Texan Cultures
2. San Antonio Botanical Garden
3. San Antonio Zoo

We've never camped at/near SA but we're going there next Feb, so thanks for the info about the Admiralty I want to camp at New Braunfels to see that area plus driving into SA a few times. New Branfels is a Germanic settled area.
To Iggy - I am retired military. Does Lackland have a nice camping area?

X2 on Traveler's RV Resort. It is a park that offers nice campsites and also offers convenient access to downtown and the River Walk with city bus service. It is adjacent to a walking and bicycle trail with its own access spur. It is also convenient to the missions (and there are several worth visiting other than the Alamo).

Campgrounds San Antonio

We stay at Pecan Park in San Marcos not to far from New Braunfels. Just off the river and tubing rides place next door.

I also agree with travelers. We have stayed there every year for the past 3 years for spring break. Great park, close to downtown and friendly staff.

I agree on the 5 missions. They were a chain and there is something different about each. The national park systems just spent quite a bit of effort in improving them and they are worth the trip. I believe they are a world heritage site. One hint. Try to visit on a week day. The churches in the missions are active churches and very often have weddings on Saturdays. You don't want to miss seeing the inside of them. They are beautiful!

I also give a thumbs up for Blazing Star! They are very nice and the pool is great. There are close to many stores, but the trees make it feel isolated. Right now, I'm staying north of SA in Boerne. You can drive to SA easily from Alamo Fiesta RV Resort, since it is on IH 10, and from here, there is access to the Hill Country sites, too.

In SA, the Alamo is a must, as well as the Riverwalk. Many attractions are on street level, such as the Mission Tour and several museums. There is really too much to see, so do some research according to your interests.

In the Hill Country, there are wineries. Boerne has its own river walk, and Fredericksburg has a lot of German history and art. It also has the Nimitz Museum, which is too big to see in one day. Kerrville has the Cowboy Art Museum and the Guadalupe River RV Resort, and Bandera has the Cowboy Museum and some RV parks.
