Snowbird question

Where and/or what campground in Texas would y'all recommend spending a few months this coming winter season at? We are hauling the 5er to Willis, TX this fall but would like to explore other parts of TX first of the year...Jan, Feb.
Thanks for your help.
Happy Trails

We go to Pioneer Beach RV resort in Port Aransas TX for the winter. Been there for the last few years with the exception of last year due to Harvey. Very nice park with many planned activities to keep you busy and having fun. The activity director is very very good and does a great job. There is even Square dance and county dance and line dance classes.

Ocean Waves in Rockport/Aransas Pass & Country Cuzzins in Marble falls. We have danced in Corpus but, I thought all the Clubs in Corpus folded up. Also dance in Rockport at the Lagoons with camping squares. Maybe we will catch up with ya this winter. We usually don't get to the Coastal Bend until early April.
Always try to attend the Louisiana State Square Dance Convention which is held in late March. 2019 in Hammond Louisiana. Some great dancing there.

If you feel like driving a bit more, consider the Lost Alaskan RV park just north of Big Bend National Park.

Snowbird question

I prefer line-dancing...we'll have to add square dancing to my to-do list. Any thoughts on Bandera TX area for a place to spend a month or so this winter.

We are known as "Winter Texans" not snowbirds.

You may want to check out Pioneer River Resort this is also owned by the same owners that we stay at in the winter Pioneer Beach Resort. They are great folks and run very nice camps but I can not talk about the activities at Pioneer River Resort in the winter since I have never been there then.

If you want to escape the worst of the cold in Texas, the Coastal Bend area, Corpus down to the Rio Grande Valley, is a good bet. Lots of great state parks, but some are still closed to camping due to Harvey. Mustang Island State Park is a favorite of mine, but won't be open for RV's for at least another month, then they'll be booked solid. Goose Island up by Rockport is also nice, but no beach. Rockport is a great little town and pretty much back on their feet, definitely worth a visit. Check the Texas State Parks website for the latest on availability. There are also many privately owned parks, plenty to check out.
Want to try a little dry camping if it's not too cold? The Padre Island National Seashore is a short drive from Corpus with probably the nicest stretch of natural beach in Texas. There's a small, super cheap camping area with nice pads and a dump station, but no power or water. They have lots of activities and tours, including frequent baby turtle releases which is not to be missed. They don't do those in the winter however.
If you have military privileges NAS Corpus Christi has a nice park with all the amenities, it's a short drive to the island or downtown with plenty to do.
Scenery-wise the Hill Country is hard to beat, that's a large area primarily west of San Antonio. Kerrville is a neat little town but be careful with that fiver, it's called the Hill Country for a reason!
