Southeast Wisconsin area woes

We are in Hillsboro WI visiting friends. This is were we were camped for a couple day. Some areas have received 15 inched of rain this week. I hooked up in knee deep water and pulled out to higher ground at Midnight, raining buckets, pitch black except for lightning. Can't go south to get to Iowa cause roads closed and bridges out so going to have to go North to I90/94 then West, then South where there is higher ground.Click image for larger version

Yeah it's bad. I live out in the country and there are many farm fields flooded. It could be worse, 15" of water would be a heck of a lot of snow. The one good thing it that there are no injuries reported as of this morning.

I live downstream from Hillsboro in Baraboo. I was traveling to Richland Center and all of the roads west of Reedsburg are closed. I had to go 35 miles south to get around the closures. If you can get out by going north, get out asap.

I would call Hillsboro northwest Wisconsin, not southeast. Maybe just west Wisconsin.

I don't want to argue but Wisconsin is over 300 miles from north to south and Hillsboro is only 70 miles from Ill. I would call that south.

OK - Advice -- we are headed to the city of Antigo Lakes tomorrow - anyone have any weather reports for that area?

I left Baraboo Aug 25. I hit the W. edge of storms while broke down in MN. But looks like I got out pretty much 'just in time'.

So true. I worked in Madison and live 27 miles straight north. Many times I would see a 10 degree temperature difference between work and home. I do recall at least twice seeing a 20 degree difference.

Sorry Rockfordroo. I didn't notice that you are from Rockford. I agree that most people in Ill do think that the north starts about 50 miles north of the Ill/WI border. My mother-in-law lives in Kenosha and she thinks Baraboo is "up north"

She is right in a way, Baraboo is north west of Kenosha.

Illinois is "Up North". Wisconsin is "Way Up North".

I went to UW Madison for 5 years, so I still think anything north of there is "up north" (or "up Nord!").

In-laws live in Wisconsin Rapids, so we're always going "up Nord!"

Yeah, Arkansas is "up north" to us, but y'all in Wisconsin are "way up yonder".

In all seriousness though, y'all are having a very rough time. Hope everyone is safe and doesn't get washed away. We were planning on going up through Wisconsin to the UP for our 40th anniversary until I was laid off at the end of April. We probably would have driven right into the middle of that mess. The Lord moves in mysterious ways.

Everybody stay safe.

Bless your hearts. If it's any consolation, y'all are all from "up north."

Bob, The Weather Channel says "chance of stray showers," then pegs the "chance" at 80%, 50%, 20%, 100% over the next four days. Looks like a coin toss.

We cancelled our Labor Day plans because half of our group would have had to go WAY out of the way to get to the property that we own. In the town of Rock Springs the river is twenty feet above flood stage. I guess that I will spend my holiday weekend filling/hauling sandbags. IN 2008 I cancelled my Canadian fishing vacation and ended up being assigned as a crew chief sandbagging homes. It is surprising to see that some people think the proper way to sandbag is to pile sandbags vertically on top of each other, one bag wide and 10 bags tall. They get mad when you tell them that without help, their houses are going to be lost.
I am serving God when I do this, not looking for praise from anyone.

My wife just pointed out something that I missed. I never noticed that this thread says southeast WI. If should be southwest.
