We are winter Texans in Rockport, TX and recently purchased a 2018 Apex 300BHS travel trailer to leave on our lot in Rockport from May through October. Getting older and pulling a trailer back and forth was getting too much. We own our lot and the trailer can stay onsite in the RV park. Lots of permanent residents in the park who will keep and eye on things for us. I am thinking that I may need a solar vent fan to keep air flowing through during the hot summer months. Any suggestions or recommendations. Thanks.
I like to keep my air conditioner on...... set to 80-85
keeps the interior cool... stops numerous heat related problems with interior stuff.
It also acts as a de-humidifier.
I consider the power and $$$ I use........ well spent for the protection it gives.
ask neighbors to keep an eye open if power goes off.

Heat isn't going to be as big a problem as humidity. Buy a couple of large containers of damp rid and place them in the trailer. The 4 lb tub lasts up to six months.
Do you have someone that you can entrust a key? Changing out the tubs is pretty easy. The crystals turn to a water like substance that can be dumped on the ground. You could keep extra tubs in the rig and they could take the top off if needed.
Running the airconditioning is a good idea, but a lot can go wrong.
How long is the rig going to be unoccupied?
We do have power throughout the 7-8 months we are away, but I would rather not use the AC. Thanks for the info on the tubs. We do have people that would dump them for us. I agree the humidity is a bigger problem than just the heat.

My preference--doing it in two trailers is to:
Get a 30-pint (smallest size) dehumidifier
Set it to run with a drain (not tank)
Leave off the tank and wedge the switch, or
Punch a hole in the bottom of the tank
Set the dehumidifier in the shower and turn it on
Leave the gray tank valve open--even if it just drips on the ground.

Just make sure that the dehumidifier either restarts automatically after a power outage, or that someone restarts it. My dehumidifier will not restart itself after a power outage.

If not already there install roof vent covers and leave the roof vents open.

Mine are dumb dehumidifiers. The only control is a rotary switch, on/off at the left extreme, further rotation adjusts the humidistat.
I get them, sometimes for free, sometimes for $20-25, on Craigslist.
