Wisconsin Dells
Does anyone have ideas on a great place to stay near the Dells? I want a very nice campground with all of the amenities that is not too far from the Dells. Concerned with the scenery and the campground more than the Dells. Nice walking trails with lake or river access possibly. I appreciate all responses...
Thanks,
Gary

We stayed at Dell Boo Campground, no lake or walking trails, out side of the tourist area about 15 minutes, near the casino. Very nice people to deal with and close enough to see all the tourist things but far away enough not deal with the traffic. A few state parks were past there towards Baraboo you might want to look at.

We always stayed at Mirror Lake State Park. No pool but nice beach, nice fishing pier, boat rentals. Very close to the Dells but far enough from the noise and lights. They do book up fast but they also have some non-reservable sites. Link: Mirror Lake State Park - Wisconsin DNR

We've stayed at the Jellstone and also Holiday Shores. Both are nice. With what you are looking for you will want a bit farther out than the downtown area. At Holiday Shores you can rent a pontoon boat and explore the river for a day!

Check out Sky High Camping Resort in Portage. Right near the Interstate at the top of the bluffs near Cascade Mountain Ski area. 10 miles east of the Dells.

I think the Dells was the best "Family Vacation" we ever had. Something for everyone. The kids were younger we did the go-Cart Roller Coaster parks, Noah's Ark, and my daughter wanted to go horseback riding. The wife wanted to take a side trip to the Mall of America, No let's go find a cheese store instead..... We stayed at a resort so I have no camp ground for you, but if you have kids, the Dells is a great place to vacation!

Might also want to check out Devils lake. I believe it is electric only and a little outside of Baraboo, but a great place. As for the Dell's we go there every year over New Years. If you are looking for a getaway while its cold and snowing, what better way than indoor water parks!

Stand Rock is a nice CG. Its is in the woods with a small fishing pond, pool ,mini putt putt. Its only 5 min. out of the dells. Well run and quit at night with security walking the grounds. You could drive to baraboo to hike in the state park in 15 minutes.

We stayed at Standrock last fall. Great place and free coffee in the morning. Showers are very new and clean. If you check tripadvisor, almost every review notes the cranky owner. We can confirm that the owner is cranky for sure but outside of checking in, everything else is great. Nice location too.
