04 sunseeker. Wire tore off my step. Where’s it go!?!
(Any pics of yours or diagrams would help!) Hey all. I have an 04 sunseeker 2900. Ford e450. Had a tire blow out and it tore a wire from my step, and I can’t figure out where it goes. My step stopped working and my light for the step also doesn’t work. I’m sure if I can figure out where this wire goes, that’ll fix my problem. The corrugated tubing that the wire comes from seems to come out the sprayed insulation around the back of the step. I found some corrugated tubing that’s coming out of the bottom in the same area (check pics), but there’s no wire for me to grab to try to splice back. Not sure if I should start chiseling the insulation off cuz the wire goes in there, orrr?

Brown typically goes to the door magnetic switch to know when the door is open or closed. The switch either provides a ground when open or when closed. Check your door switch to see if the wire is still at the switch.

One other thing. If the wire is from the door switch it of course would not be providing a ground so if you ground the wire somewhere the steps should operate in the opposite direction they are currently in. Also, the step light (the one underneath) typically only illuminates momentarily when the steps are extended (door opened).

Thanks for the reply and info. The hyperlink doesn’t have much for the door switch and I’m thinking it might have something to do with that, since I took the cover off by the magnetic part and found a white wire and a brown wire. I took my phone light and looked inside the corrugated tubing from my previous pics coming out of the insulation at the bottom and I saw a white wire way up there. However, when grounding the brown wire, turning on house power, turning the step switch on and off, shutting and opening the door, I’m still not getting any light or step operation. Also, when I turn on house power and flips the step switch, I hear a tick/click in the step or step module area.
Pic 1 and 3 are 90 degrees off.

OK. I'm not familiar with your coach but typically power for the steps is via an inline 25 amp fuse directly off the coach battery. You might check that also.

Well the step switch itself does apply 12 volts to the controller to set the logic to not let the steps retract/extend (depending what logic it needs) when the door is closed.

The step switch 12Vdc is fused separate from the steps main power fused input.

Looks like you have an older model step like my 2006 Sunseeker. A model 21 which is an SCS/Frigette make
I do have the owners manual and will take some pictures of that. Any Coach Step manuals I've found online are useless for this model.
I'll take some pictures of my step as soon as it warms up, got down to 24 last night and the high is only expected to be in the 30s today, but I'll try to get under there.
I just had a new controller and motor installed in mine. 2nd or 3rd time for each since 2007. Love it when it works. Cheaper to fix than replace. New ones are $600-700 installed.

If the info from"parise" is correct for your unit then what I have been posting for you is correct and am glad of that.

I had similar clicking and I described it to my dealer as a relay tripping.
Turned out the motor was nearly shot and then also during trouble shooting the controller was deemed bad as well.
PS guys, I am scanning the manual and will send it as a PDF to your personal emails. Its 2 PDFs, even and odd pages, my scanner wont do duplex.

Update: thank you Bubbles and Parise for the diagrams. Found where the loose wire goes. Performed some wire repair. Did some zip tying. All’s well.
