2013 3170DS Bedroom Slide Issue

Hi folks,
I'm experiencing an issue where the top of my slide seems to retract fully but the bottom will not. I'm not sure what's going on here but I suspect the Schwintek unit needs to be re-synchronized in accordance w/ these instructions here:

Has anybody here had this same experience and would you please tell me if I'm on the right track to solving it?

Here's a couple pictures of how it looks on the outside:

Re-synchronizing does not equal re-timing.

From you photos it appears that both sides of your slide are operating equally. For the bottom to fail to fully retract the timing must be off on both sides. Not impossible however the schwintek cannot do that on its own. It has to have help. So that means that something had to cause both bottom gears to skip at least one tooth. That would cause a significant noise and noticeable erratic movement of the slide.

There is another possibility. The schwintek is operating normally but something is stopping it.

Does your slide have a safety interlock on the bottom? (photo if you do not know what I am referring to.)

Hi there Duck! Thing is I bought the 2013 unit last year so it was pre-owned. I’m unsure of what trauma it encountered before I got it but since I’ve owned it, it’s always been askew - I bought it knowing there was an issue. The problem is it seems it be getting worse.

I don’t know if it has a safety interlock - I didn’t see any photo but then again I’m on my tablet so maybe I need to look at this on a computer.

My 2012 did not use the Schwintech Slideout mechanism. Mine has the Lippert Flush Floor Slideout. A manual to that model:

I don’t think Forest River had started using the Schwintech mechanism in 2013.

LoL. I was asking for you to post a photo of the bottom of the slideout when full or partially extended. Here is the bottom of mine.

Needless to say, they all must line up.

Haha Duck I seem to have a knack for misunderstanding things lol.

Here's a pic of the bottom of mine, I don't see any interlocks.

You have a Schwintek slide system. I would take it in to a shop to have the bottom sprockets timed with the top sprockets. Maybe past owner stripped the lower sprockets since it is continuing to worsen.
