2017 Forester 3051 - Kitchen/sofa beds

Both the kitchen table bed and the sofa fold out bed are too small for an average adult. Anyone have any mods/ideas to fit 1 adult on these beds comfortably? Kids fit fine, how about an adult? The pic is an example of our set up

I put the two pads intended for the upper bunk cubicles on top of the sofa and my 5'8" friend was comfortable.

I was wondering - If I put a gel pad or a blow up bed on top of the sofa (when it was laid out flat), if that would work. (Most of the adults I am speaking of are 5'10 plus).

Ours is in storage, but taking "her" out in a couple weeks. I think I will bring a blow up bed and check it out. The arms of the sofa make it a PITA.

Adult sleeping room

I have a Sunseeker 3050, which is basically the same as yours. What I do is remove the sofa arm behind the passenger seat and that gives you the extra length you need. A friend had same problem and never realized that the arms come off the sofa. Just pull them straight up. Hope this was helpful.

The arms of the sofa come off!! Perfect. I had no idea. Thanks for that little tid bit.
In our 3051s we have had 6 adults at once. Our solution was to put the tallest 2 in the bunk above the cab. Plenty of room up there even for my daughter in law who is over 6'. One 5'11" adult can sleep on the dining table bed if they go diagonally. We put the shortest person on the sofa but removing one arm between the sofa and cab would have made that better. The other 2 full size adults got the master bed.
The miracle of all this was that there was no fighting and the whole family wants to do the trip again this year

Just watched the video on youtube on how to remove the arms. I feel dumb!! I didn't realize that the arms are meant to come off the bed to maximize the room. There is just one small post holding them in the slot. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Looks like you pretty well figured it out. We used good Coleman air mattress on both the couch and the dinette and it worked out well...don't worry about that configuration any longer since we traded our '16 Sunseker 3050S on a new Georgetown...loved "her" a bunch...

We did this in our 2861DS! Combines both small beds into a queen sized bed in about 5 minutes!

Well, bad news. Our 2017 3051S arms do not come off the sofa bed. They are recliners and bolted onto the whole sofa. Bummed out!! Needing to make a fitted table to go in between the dining table and sofa bed.

I wonder if a trifold couch would work like the table in between?

So this is how I ended up making our dining table into a queen bed. The table I am using is 5 feet long, 30 inches wide and it adjust from 17 inches to 24 inches in height. The table will be used outside when not in use as a bed. The white topper is a feather bed that we already had in the RV and the blue topper is gel pad. The gel topper is a regular queen size. It doesn't look pretty because I just took it out of the wrapper and it still needs to breathe and form correctly. Also, its discolored because of the wrapper it came in. The two foam pieces are because my dining table cushions don't fit properly (mentioned in another thread). I will post pics in that thread about the cushion issue. My husband and I laid on it. Super comfy. The gel cushions makes it. Once we have a king sleeping bag on it, it will be more comfy than the regular queen bed we have in the RV.

Its super comfy!! Especially once the gel pad forms correctly and isn't lumpy.

On my 2014 3051, the arms are removable. Did they change the design?

I did see the removable arms in another Forester. That is awesome. Our arms aren't removable. Totally bolted on. Does your sofa recline? Mine does. I noticed the sofas that I have looked at - the sofas that recline - the arms don't come off.

I wanted to put a blow up bed (a double height one) in between the sofa and the dining table, but the blow up bed was too wide.
