2017 Sunseeker 2860 DS, awning gas cut off valve

So there is a propane gas cut off that will only let you use the propane quick connect when the awning is fully retracted.

As I have a 30 ft propane hose, and will never cook under the awning, is there an easy way to disable this 'valve' cut off wherever it is ?

Have you tried it ? Seems odd you won't be able to use the grill if it's raining ! That sticker "may" just be legal warning.

I may have misunderstood. I was thinking that there was some sort of physical interference between the awning and the gas connection which I couldn't visualize. Since the awning is much higher than the typical quick connect.

So now I am thinking that there is an electricial/ mechanical cut off so people don't set their awning on fire while cooking. Now that I think I understand your issue I imagine there is a fix but if I were you I would make it a temporary fix. You don't want to have someone else light up the barbie and set the RV on fire. I expect you will be careful but another person....

I didn't see this post before writing my reply. Just a legal disclaimer warning makes sense.

Yes I have tried it.

There is no gas flow when the awning is out. Is there likely a solenoid/relay in the black box container behind it ?

Ill check if so, I may be able to just bypass the relay, disconnect then reconnect the 2 wires so it always thinks the awning is not opened up.

Thanks for posting this. I'm looking forward to relevant replies you get since I have the same year/model. I would have never assumed the BBQ propane would be shut off with the awning out.

Interesting. This must be new. I have a 2015 and there is no cutoff related to the awning.

rv industry

I bet a label yes, an electrical mechanical lp shut off no. It would increase manf cost and of greater importance increase their liability when a failure is reported regardless if it occured or not. Same reasons I remove medicine cabinets, sheet rock, and replace with mirror in rental proprties. Same goes with the removal of shower rods & curtains.... Been there, done that.

I've got that same model/year and I can run my propane stove with the awning out. Have you tried it? There is a shut off valve on the connector, I found that out by accident.

I saw a similar question before we bought our 2017 2860ds, so I asked the dealer as we checked out the unit. I was told that the gas works with awning extended.

Propane works with awning extended

I also have a 2017 2860DS. I just used the propane BBQ with the awning extended this weekend.

Off topic, but to minimize liability I would keep the number of owner installed items at rental properties (college campus) to the lowest level (past tense, DW and the grand kids are the only clients now).
