The latest mod was to upgrade the batteries to AGM. The OEM house batteries leaked battery acid, melted plastic and was deteriorating the compartment itself.
The Chassis OEM battery had the red eye of death although it never failed to start the Triton. All three batteries are Duracell’s from Sam’s. Group 27M Deep Cycles for the house and Group 65 for the chassis.
The first pic is the original flooded batteries followed by the AGM replacements.
Also added in this mod was a real battery disconnect. If you noticed the connection screw removed from the disconnect it was removed because I detected a slight voltage leak in the disconnect position.
The first solar charge yielded a resting voltage reading of 12.85 for the chassis and 12.76 for both house batteries.

Do you have any issues with the stock charging system when driving or when plugged in? I was thinking of doing the battery upgrade when the time comes but have little knowledge about the charging system. I have a 2017 gts 2800.

Hi Chief,
I had no problem charging with the PD Charge Wizzard although I had to water the batts monthly when we were full timing. No problem charging from Alternator when traveling either. I think the boiling was from my solar charge controller.
It has a setting for AGM batts and did well charging over the past week.
So far so good. I did check the PD Charge wizard specs to make sure the AGMs are compatible.
I have not plugged in or driven since I put the AGMs in.
Edit: I did run the genset for 2 hrs but did not think to monitor battery voltage. Duh!

2800 QS Mods
Duck, why did you not get group 31’s for the house? Would they not fit?
I have 2 group 31’s in my step well but our step well covers are configured a little different. Just curious.

I thought they would be a hair too tight. They also would have been $100 more and I do not need the slight advantage that 31’s have over the 27’s because of the solar so I did not pursue it.

Bug Deflector
After a long battle removing the “Titan” film that had molded and looked ugly, I installed the AVS 25016 Bug Deflector. It was a 30 minute job. Instructions were
straight forward and the part fit perfectly without any modification on my 2017 chassis. The only error was that it was supposed to have self tapping screws for the end tabs and they were not. So drilling a pilot hole was necessary. I also dipped the screws in sealer before I ran them in.

Another well executed job Duck.
Oh by the way.....just checking out those skinny Duck legs in the reflection of the front bumper. Not pretty.

Nice bug deflector!
Ducky, how does the new deflector affect wind when driving? Does it create any buffeting under the cab? Also, hopefully it may even improve water removal on the windshield as the air flow under the cabover is weird and creates some unusual water flow patterns.
Oh wait...from the pic it look's like you don't have a cabover?

No cabover on any GTS. I have not driven it for over a year now and I’m not leaving FL in the Winter. Cold is a four letter word. But I keep it up and try not to let it get too green. I guess I will find out how it does next Summer.

Auto Ventshade 192141 in-Channel Ventvisor Side Window Deflector, 2-Piece Set for 2007-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350 & E-450 Super Duty
Fit perfectly and easy install. Pics are from 10/30/20 so have completed drivers side DuraShield Titan XT removal. Passenger side remains.

Ride Rite Valves
Finally got around to addressing the leaky and hard to fill Firestone Air Springs.
Turned out to be a big job because the duallys and air bags needed to be completely removed to access the leak 90* fitting and hose issues.
The schrader valves were located on the rear wall of the compartments behind the wheels. Right side not so bad in front of the water pump access door but limits what you can stuff in the compartment. The left side was tucked up behind the gray tank dump plumbing and other lines. Very hard to access with the wardrobe slide out. The new location for the valves are in front of the rear wheel well trim in the aluminum rocker trim piece.

Ride Rite Supplemental
Yes, you can remove the airbag without removing the mounting bracket.

Why didn’t you just install a remote controlled compressor system. Then you never have to squat down and/or crawl around to check or change air pressure.

Thin Shade
Finally got around to replacing the door window and adding a slim shade. Really not much to it. Only con is that the frame overlap is slightly smaller than the OEM and left a small unpainted area on the exterior. You would not notice it if you do not have full body paint.
I also re applied the command fasteners so I can still use the reflectix for storage rather then letting the shade get abused by the FL sun.

Another excellent install. Not being familiar with the project though...
This ends up replacing the factory in door window with an aftermarket tinted window that incorporates a built in privacy shade?
Did I get that right?
I can’t remember what my factory window looked like. Were they clear glass originally?

I did the same mod a few months back but installed it so the shade moved up from the bottom. That way I can leave it open about six inches from the top which allows us to see whoever is standing at the door while blocking the view into the MH.

Thanks Ken,
This is a direct replacement for the textured glass window and frame in the 1.5” Lippert MH door. I was looking at this option for quite some time so I could see the awning without opening the door. The discovery of the cracked OEM window frame made this mod a “must”.

Hmmmmm.
I don’t have any problem seeing my awning without opening the door. However, I was standing outside at the time.

Just saying hi. I did most of these mods when I had the 2801QS. It was a nice coach. If I went back to a C, I would buy another. I love looking at all of your ideas.
