2860 DS Owners

A while back I started a thread regarding the 2860 DS rear kitchen outside door (the large one that flips up). Mine has warped and I wanted to know if any other 2860 DS owners notice the same on their door. Mine is to the point that excessive force is needed on both sides of the door in order to latch it.

I'm working now with both the dealer and Forest River on the problem and am curious if other 2860 DS owners with the outside kitchen do, or don't have the same problem. I'm trying to ascertain if the vendor that supplies the door to Forest River changed the design of the door perhaps after mine was manufactured to prevent the warping. My unit was made in Oct. 2012.

Thanks for any replies!

Gary

KQ2N, we have a 2013 2860DS built 8/2012 and our outside kitchen door is flat across the width of the door. I can see where this large of a door could do what yours has done if there's no support in the door to stiffen it.

Thanks Kitty for the reply. I did want to hear from all 2860DS owners, if they experience the warped door, or as you, do not. The dealer is willing to get me a new door (a little complicated because I have the full body paint), but I want to know if the supplier of the door has changed the design at all to alleviate this from happening again.

Do you have full body paint, or is your unit white?

KQ2N, no body paint, which would be a lot easier to replace. You should be OK with a new door.

2860's are now coming with outdoor kitchen's? HOLY COW! I used to own a 2860, but it was a 2006 model. I loved the amount of storage in that model, the kitchen is taking some of that storage away.

Our 2013 2860 was made in Oct-Dec 12 and we have had no problems with the outside kitchen door.

Sounds like the door lost its seal and water is getting in.
