A/C compressor makes a loud noise

We have a 2015 Sunseeker 3010DS. When we returned from our trip to Texas I put the motor home in storage and the first time I go out to the storage place and start the generator and put the A/C on to provide a load for the generator, the compressor will make a loud noise the go off and a couple seconds later the same thing and when it does this it almost causes the generator to quit when the compressor starts. I then turned off the A/C as something is not right. Never in the 3 years we have had this new motor home had we had a problem with the A/C while using the generator. Has anyone experienced this A/C problem? Thanks in advance.

Could be a bad start cap. Might be worth a shot replacing it since they are pretty cheap.

Check the voltage output of your generator also. Try putting a load on the genny with the microwave and check voltage.

X2 on capacitor... it prolly doesn't have a start capacitor but a run capacitor. Runs are normally silver and starts are normally black. You prolly have to take apart to get the MF on the run cap unless you pay the stealer price for it. The run should be in the $10 range for reference.

If it doesn't have one add a start assist kit...like this

YMMV

If you are going to mess with a capacitor, please make sure you disconnect the power and then short out the capacitor BEFORE you do anything else! Those things have quite a bit of power in them and can do some real damage!

I did do a load check of the generator with the micro wave and a ceramic heater just to confirm it is not the generator. Voltage was fine also. By the way I still need to check if the problem also happens when I am connected to shore power as well.

Sounds like you're on the right track to diagnosing the problem.

Mud dauber wasps could have built a nest inside. I had some berings rust and freeze up fan and when I freed up it made lots of noise.
