A/C Unit Cycling

We have a 2017 Sunseeker 2400ws. When running the A/C, I notice that it sometimes seems cycle - ramping down then ramping up again. I don't think the compressor shuts off. Is this some kind of safety feature?

No not a safety feature but designed that way. On Auto the fan blows on high until within a few degrees of the set temperature and then it switches to low speed. Fan comes to a stop when switching speeds (compressor does not stop.) That is what you hear. A bit disconcerting, but normal operation. Bugs me every time.

I've noticed that too in my 2017 Sunseeker 2250. I always run my thermostat fan in the "AUTO" mode and I just assumed that it was just changing the fan speed from HI to LOW and vice versa.

If your thermostat FAN speed is set on AU for Auto, this cycling is probably the unit switching from HI to LO and back to HI -- automatically. If you're in AUTO, the fan doesn't always run the same speed. That's how mine works. YMMV

Why doesn't it just shut off when it reaches the desired temp?

I don’t hate it but sure would like to be able to override the fan constantly running. Sometimes its good, sometimes not so much.

I have mine set on auto it shuts off when temp reaches what I have it set for on thermostat. Default is 2 degrees under but you can change it to 1.

A/C is fixed at 2 degree. Heat is adjustable 1 or 2 degrees.

Perhaps our thermostats are different. I reset mine to 1 degree but it didn't seem to change. After rereading the manual it said the adjustment was for heat setting, no mention of A/C. Easy to do, give it a try.

If I leave the fan on "Low" and set the "cool" temp to say 75, will the fan shut off at 74?

Right now, I have my fan set on "Auto" and it never seems to shut off...just cycles.

The only time the fan will shut off when it reaches the set temp is when it is on auto. If you have the fan on low or high the compressor will shut off a desired temp but fan will continue to run. There is a great video on you tube by RV Habit that explains the use of the thermostat

Woody thanks for bring this to me I went and checked and yes it is only for furnace you can change to 1 degree. AC is definitely 2 degrees

It will shut off at 73. 2 degree offset.

Mine was doing the same thing. It would run on high, cut off for a second and then back on with the fan on low. After a couple minutes it would cut back off for a second and switch to high.

After a brief internet search I found several posts where people said their vents were pointed at the thermostat and causing this problem. Sure enough, 2 of my vents were pointing almost exactly at the thermostat. I rotated them away and the A/C started working normally after that.
