AC won't shut off automatically

My AC keeps running no matter how high I set thermostat it will only manually shut off. I would appreciate any suggestions on what could be causing this.

Thanks

You may have it set to continually run the fan part of your A/C. The compressor cycles but the fan never shuts off. As mentioned, check the thermostat's fan setting.

I will have to check the week of the 4th when I go out again. I hadn't thought of the fan just running I was assuming the AC was running also I'm not sure. I will have to pay closer attention but I know I had ac on automatic not manual.

Thanks

Frankie, you may already know this but I didn't. I discovered on ours, as you cycle through Heat, AC, Fan, Furnace, on the thermostat you stop on Fan and use the up down buttons to change from fan auto, high, low.

I don't know if all of the units have multi speed fans but mine does...the 15k unit with heat pump. The fan can be set to high, low or auto. If set to high or low the fan runs all the time. If set to auto it kicks on and off with the compressor. It is easy to hear the difference in the sound when the compressor is running versus just the fan. Depending on the situation, I use it both ways. For instance at night, the sound of the fan running constantly is less likely to wake me up then for the unit to turn on and off each time the compressor cycles.

I believe most home systems run the fan @ a higher speed when cooling than when heating !!!

I didn't even know the fan had an auto setting. My old camper it was just dials. The one in my living room has an actual wall thermostat. I'll have to check it this weekend to find the auto setting so that the fan will shut off.

Correct. Cold air is harder to move than warm dry air.

My A/C Won't Cycle On/Off Either

I had the same problem with my a/c the last 2 trips I went on. The a/c simply will not turn off, regardless of where the thermostat is set, regardless of whether the controls are set on AC or fan or hi or low or anything else. My coach is going back to the dealer next week for yet another issue so the a/c can be checked at that time. My friend, who is much more knowledgeable on RV stuff, especially a/c, could not figure out how to make my a/c turn off. It was 60 outside in the morning and my a/c was still pumping out freezing cold air full blast because it never shut off all night. I had to turn it off manually and open the door on the coach to let in the "warm" air. Ridiculous. I have a new 2015 Rockwood 2608WS and have had problem after problem with it. I purchased it new from a dealer in March of this year. While it is a 2015 model year, it did not sell last year so was discounted this year. I am starting to wonder if it is a lemon I have had so many problems with it...

Just an update for my post on this thread.

I did check out my thermostat and sure enough there was an AUTO setting. I showed my wife how to use and now it works perfectly. Thanks for this thread and the help!
